Living in one of the poorest districts in what is said to be a country is a new mystery everyday.

Alicia Dasher lives in a small hut made of straw near a small creek river at the edge District 27, the farming district. With beautiful dark, black hair and hazel eyes Alicia is not so ordinary or lucky. Alicia is most fond of the Capital, the head of all the districts, and dreams what it would feel like if she were there for one day. Alicia has her father's interests but has her mother's talents and looks. She might like reading and writing but she can cook a Capital star meal if she has the right equipment and ingredients. She enjoys farming every morning and never forgets a patch to water unlike her brother. She is most curious on why her father is teaching her things that she doesn't need to know.

Most brothers are annoying but for Alicia her brother Zach, encourages her, acompanies her and gives her some space when she needs it. Zach is a tall boy with blonde hair and looks similar to his father. Zach is only a year older than Alicia at 17. Instead of farming he wishes to be a miner in district 2 but needs to work and study hard to get the ticket which costs a fortune in a poor district like his. Zach does not hang around the house most of the time. He goes off and chats with his friends and looks around to find if anything is new around the district. Alicia's mother is well-known in the district for having one of the largest farms. Mrs Dasher has several farms, each one for a different plant. She plants potatoes, corns, carrots, wheat, watermelons, lettuce and her favourite, her own hot and spicy chilli. She even exports her plants to other districts. Her father has 2 jobs, being a librarian and staying along side Alicia and Zach. But he doesn't do that very well. Her father is a librarian at the centre of the district, most of the books are written by him. Alicia loves reading like her father and reads a new book each day.

Alicia's father has been spending lots of time with Alicia discussing about farming, telling the difference between a healthy or poisonous plant, shelter and where to find water . The main ways to survive in the wild, however, now he is teaching her how to craft tools to use in combat. Alicia thought this meant how to get food but her father meant otherwise. He showed her the basics, how to make and use a sword, axe and pick axe in combat. He also showed how to use range weapons, for example bows, spears and tridents. Her father noticed that she was advancing in archery so her father showed her a couple of new techniques that masters of archery use. This all had a purpose but Alicia didn't know what. Her father never included Zach, it was just her. She had asked him several times what was this for and only response was, "You'll figure it out soon."
