It had been several weeks since the meeting in the courtroom and Eren tried to lose himself in his duties as one of the Nine Titans and Titan leader beside his brother. They had found several new Titan shifters and welcomed them into the clan as comrades and family. He himself had to help train them and show them how to use their abilities so they didn't wind up hurting themselves or others around them. He also showed them how to fight, but Annie mostly did that part. She had caught several of their eyes but it was safe to say that she put them in their place via Titan fighting.

He heard the familiar THUMP as Annie tackled another victim to the ground and could not help but smirk. He went back to checking the maps and making sure all territories were marked and accounted for. As he checked them off one by one, then pencil hovered over the symbol that marked the castle and its grounds. He felt the lump come up and his eyes water. He wiped away at his eyes, growling in frustration. This was insane! He was the holder of the Attack Titan! He shouldn't be whimpering and crying like some twelve year old child that just got his heart broke!

Except...he DID just get his heart broke.

He growled and his hands balled into fists and tears escaped and dripped onto the paper. He should NOT be crying over Historia, she had made her choice and he needed to do the same. Yet...his heart still ached for her. He heard footsteps behind him and turned to see Zeke and Pieck. Pieck had her arm entwined with her husband's and had a look of concern. Zeke had the same look but also held an envelope in one hand.

Eren looked at the envelope and he saw it was sealed shut with the stamp of the royal family. His breath caught in his throat and his mind wandered to possibilities, both good and bad. His brother met his gaze.

"This letter is originally from Historia, apparently she requests your appearance."

Eren blinked in disbelief. "Why does she need me?"

Zeke shrugged. "It does not say, it is a rather short letter."

Eren sighed and took the letter, scanning over it. It simply said how sorry she was and how she wanted to see him. He rubbed his forehead and slipped the letter into his pocket. He nodded at his brother and mounted his horse.

"Let me go see what she wants."

A few hours later he headed down the long hallway, searching for her room. Soon he found it at the end of the hall, large and silver, marked with the family crest. He put a hand on the door knob and froze. He noticed his hand was trembling and could feel the uncertainty. What could Historia possibly want with him now? Was she going to be a crying mess and ask for him to stay? He scoffed. If she did, why would he ever accept?

He turned the knob and entered the room. His gaze swept over the room and landed on Historia, who was sitting on her bed, staring out the window. She seemed to be somewhere else and he had to clear his throat to get her attention. Once she looked up, her eyes were full of life and a smile appeared. He tried to ignore the thumping in his throat.

She got off her bed and practically skipped over to him, arms open wide. "Eren! I didn't think you would come!" She hugged him and laid her head on his chest.

Eren didn't return the hug, arms at his side. "I almost didn't.."

HIstoria, hearing the tone, slowly stopped hugging him and backed up, eyes locked on him. He stared back, coldness in his gaze. She lowered her gaze.

"I had to do it..." She whispered. Eren swallowed the lump in his throat and resisted the urge to pull her to him and kiss her. Instead, he fully entered the room and crossed his arms.
