Jack Avery's POV

"I'm not sure," Zach responds with, he looked bored and uninterested.

"Love? It's a powerful emotion and all..." I mumble shyly, if Zach wasn't sat next to me; I probably wouldn't be so subtle with my choices. I didn't want him to think I was going soft or anything along those lines.

Zach hears anyway and raises an eyebrow although he doesn't say anything about it. Clearly, he wasn't bothered as long as something was written down.

"Have you ever felt love though? A poem has to mean something to you... It's like a song, you can't just write something out of the blue; it has to make people feel that emotion. The poem has to mean something to you and have a secret meaning behind it." Daniel explains, being a hopeless romantic by the sounds of it.

My eyes scan the classroom and land on Mr. Besson, he was currently helping a group of girls. I've hooked up with one of them and the other is merely a friend of hers, I think.

"I think I've been in love..." I whisper, it's barely audible.

"What?" Zach asks lifting himself up from a slouched position. "Who? Why haven't I known about this?" His tone hints hurt and betrayal.

I understand why he's acting like this though, we tell each other everything then I come in one day and say I'm in love with someone without ever mentioning it before.

"Just a person, it's not quite love but I like them deeply..." I refused to look at Zach while saying this, my eyes would occasionally flicker over to the blonde teacher who was looking at our group because of Zach's loud yelling.

"Who is it?" Zach quietens down, noticing this was something important to me. He looked supportive but I knew he would find me disgusting if I told him the truth.

"I can't say, please can we just continue with this work,"

"Whatever, man." His voice was dull and dismissive. He was pretending not to care but I knew deep down, I'd really triggered something inside of him.

"Urm," Daniel awkwardly coughs, he'd just witnessed one of the very few arguments that ever happen between me and Zach, he wasn't sure how to react.

"Just do the work, nerd." Zach growls, his eyes narrowed. The brown haired boy was now bound to be moody all day, Jonah's going to have to deal with him because I'm not. He should respect my privacy, when I'm ready I'll tell him.

"O-Okay..." Daniel says before starting to jot things down in his notebook. I sent Zach a hard look and rolled my eyes. I still had to spend more then an hour with him while we were both annoyed at each other.

However I really didn't feel like fighting with him right now, I could use his and Jonah's help without truly admitting anything serious.

So I raised my hand and yelled out,"Zachary Dean Herron is an asshole, thank you for listening!" Which makes the boy next to me burst out laughing. I knew I'd lightened up the mood by insulting him which was like a win win situation.

Daniel's eyes flew open wide while he looked around the classroom. Mr. Besson was sending me and Zach a glare but didn't do anything about it, probably because Daniel would pass out at being yelled at. Even if he's not the one being directly shouted at.

"Jack Robert Avery sucks di-" Before he can finish that sentence, I tackle him onto the floor and pin him down.

Feeling strong for once, I send him a smug look but the tables are quickly turned by him flipping us over. I gasp in surprise, for some reason I wasn't expecting my stronger best friend to win a friendly fight between us.

That's when he's pulled off me by Jonah who shakes his head. "Actual children," He mumbles, trying to hold back laughing while placing Zach down in his seat with little effort.

Daniel was glancing at Jonah with admiration. His little blue eyes were shimmering while taking in Jonah's strength and size.

Soon enough, I'm being picked up and cradled. "Hey! Put me down!" I snap, kicking and pushing against him as he cradles me like a baby embarrassingly enough.

"You're a little baby, Jacky." He says leaning down to plaster my face with wet, playful kisses just like you'd do with a newborn.

Eventually, I stop fighting and send Jonah a death glare. Everyone around us were watching, most of them laughing while others appeared adored by this whole thing.

Mr. Besson walked towards us and asked politely,"Please put him down and return to your seat."

Jonah huffs before mattering, 'buzz kill' underneath his breath. He places me down and strolls back to the blonde girl.

She wasn't really paying attention to her partner's disappearance and was still writing down something in her personal notebook.

"Mr. Avery, are you okay?" The teacher asks me worriedly, examining my body which makes me blush subtly. "I'm fine, thanks, Sir."

"Alright, boy, continue with your poem please." Mr. Besson says patting my back casually. Sparks fly down my spine at the contact and it makes me grin so I lower my head so then no one can see my bright red blushing face.

"Yeah, sir." I say submissively, stepping over to my seat and sitting down.

The chaos of the room has gone down as everyone returns back to what they were originally doing. Jonah was trying to talk to Mira while she ignores him with an annoyed expression playing on her face.

Brooklyn Wyatt, a boy from the football team, calls Jonah's name from behind him and they start a conversation. Mira once again just ignores the two as they seem deep within conversation.

Laughter erupts from their corner every now and then as Brooklyn's partner glares at them. He wasn't impressed in the slightest. I didn't know who the partner was either but I've seen him briefly throughout school.

Much to my surprise when I turn my attention back to my group, Zach had moved his seat next to Daniel's and started chatting with him.

"Are you single?" My best friend asks when I tune in on their conversation.

"Urm... Y-Yeah,"

"So what's your favourite colour?" Zach's arm slides around the back of Daniel's chair which makes him blush even brighter.

"R-Red... What's yours?" Daniel seems to be getting more confident around my evil friend which was good but made me feel left out.

"Blue, the colour of your eyes." Daniel gasps and looks at him. "M-My eyes?" He asks in disbelief, unable to quite believe that a popular guy was flirting with him.
