My foot slips, and my arm grabs the branch nearest me. My foot rests on a branch far enough away from the branch where my other foot is so that it hurts. I slowly bring my foot around to a branch nearer. I swing my arm over and continue climbing the tree. I find a perch to sit on, and the leaves are parted enough so I can see the rest of the forest. The gentle, misty breeze caresses my cheek, leaving a cool sensation and turning my cheek pink. I lean my head back and close my eyes, and fall asleep.
Smoke. I jerk my head up and smell smoke. I can see trees not so far away catching fire. The fire is spreading quickly. It's a few yards away from me when I finally think to get out of here. I reach down for a branch too fast and slip. As I'm falling, a runner runs by. I hit the ground, hard, and blackout, but not before I hear a voice whisper, "Oh my God!" and strong arms wrap around me. I feel my body being lifted up and I become oblivious to the world.
