Chapter 1: Erica's first day at college

"Erica are you ready dear?" Erica's mom Sophia asked

"Yes Mom "Erica replied to her

Her mom entered the room and saw her with a gloomy face

"Are you fine? What happened to you dear? "Her mom asked her again

"Nothing mom. I am a little nervous about my first day in college"

"You'll be fine," Her mom assured her," Everyone will be nice to you. Don't worry . Now smile, as I always say smile your way through." Her mom continued

"Yah as if she knows how to do that. I bet she has to look in the dictionary for the meaning of smile!" Her brother Alex interrupted their conversation with a laugh.

"Hey!" Erica narrowed her eyes at her brother.

"Shut up Alex, don't discourage her" Sophia scolded him and then hugged Erica.

"Bye mom, see you soon!" then she turned to her brother "Bye Alex "she went out closing the door behind her.

She reached the college. It was really big and beautiful. As she enters the class room everyone starts staring at her for a second, then they continued talking.

Erica's POV

The class room was so big but not as big as my previous class room and it had a division of 2 rows. one row for Boys and another for girls it seems a bit weird because in Australia we used to sit wherever we wanted to but hear we can see the clear difference.

I then sat on the 3rd row because that was the only row which was empty

Then after sometime a girl came and stood beside me and shouted - This is my place get up from hear!" I got nervous as she was rude to me. I didn't say anything as it was my first day. I don't know anyone over hear and I don't want to spoil my first day or make any new enemy instead of friends.

So I got up and sat on the last bench. No one came to talk to me. I felt as if I was not there.

The teacher entered the room and started the attendance, he noticed me and asked me whether I am Erica Sebastian.

I nodded my head. He called me to introduce myself to the class.

I was nervous. My heart was beating as fast as it felt like it would burst any movement. But I told myself to be bold and remembered my dad's words "whatever situation it may be whenever you are speaking in front of a person show boldness in your voice"

I started my introduction -

"I am Erica Sebastian. My dad is Sebastian William. My mom is Sophia Sebastian. I have a brother Alex Sebastian. My father was a businessman. He died one year back due to a heart problem. I finished my schooling in Australia. I am an Anglo-Indian. It is my first day in this college."

I finished my introduction. Then sir asked the students if they wanted to ask me any questions.

One girl asked "what is your hobby?"

I Answered her "I love planting flowers. I had a flower garden in Australia and I am a violinist" I remembered my garden which I love the most and which I am missing now

One boy asked again "why did you decided to settle in India"

I replied "I miss my dad a lot when I stay there because every corner of that place remembers my dad.so I decided to settle in India. "I know what I said is not true but I could not tell them the whole truth

After that no one asked any questions. And I was relived

Sir made me sit in the first bench. My partners were Ursala and Neetu. They did not talk to me much as they were busy in taking to each other. I felt board.

I reached home. I was so tired after this long day. My mom asked me about my first day. I told her everything.

She told me "Don't worry dear, everything will be fine. Give them time to accept you" I as always thankful to god to have a mother like her and I hope they accept me soon

I finished my dinner and went to bed. Then I thought about the one thing that I hid from my classmates and teachers that I am a billionaire's daughter. If I said that they will treat me differently and I don't want that to happen.

As mom always says "smile your way through" So with a smile on my face I slept peacefully.

What happens in her life next ?

Will she go back to Australia ?
