The Next Step - Wondering (A Pinn Story)

Chapter 2

Chapter 2: Saturday, Also Known As The Guilty Day...

Piper's POV:

I am absolutely dreading going to the studio today. Last night when I got home, I didn't speak to anyone, I just went straight to my room.

"Hey sweetie, are you OK? I was really worried about you last night. Did something happen at dance yesterday?" my mom asks while walking into my room, after lightly tapping on the door.

"I'm fine mom. Nothing happened yesterday, just the same as every other day. You know other than the fact that we can't compete at any Absolute Dance competitions ever again," I say not really wanting to talk to her about what happened yesterday and trying to throw her off the track of Finn and I.

"OK," she says with a loud sigh, "Listen, your Dad; Olivia and I are going to your Uncle Enzo's for the day and we wouldn't be home till late, so James and Riley are going to pick you up from dance."

Olivia is my older sister, she is the child in between James and I. So, my older sister Elena is the eldest, she is 25. Then, it's James who is 22, after him it's Olivia, who is 19 and then it's me, who is 17. Both James and Elena have their own places already, James is living with Riley and Elena just recently got married so she is living with her husband Caleb. So, it's just me and Olivia who still live at home. It gets kinda lonely now, as I've always been closest to James.

"Can't I just sleepover at James and Riley's place?" I ask my mom.

"Why not," my mom says, knowing I'll be better off there anyway and she'll probably get Riley to try to talk to me.

"Thanks Mom," I say and give her a hug.

As she leaves, I start packing my overnight bag to bring to Riley and James' place.

My mom drops me off at dance and kisses me goodbye.

"Be good for Riley and James, I don't want to hear that you were misbehaving," she says.

I roll my eyes. If any one of her children would be misbehaving, it would be James. Even though he is an adult, he acts like a child sometimes.

"Yes Mom," I say.

I kiss her goodbye and start walking to the studio with my dance bag and my overnight bag.

As, I walk into the building and make my way to the stairs that lead up to Studio A, I am greeted by Lily and Amy, who are walking out of The Next Steep, with iced teas in their hands. I am super nervous as this is the first time I'm seeing Amy since Finn and I kissed last night.

"Hey Piper," they both say simultaneously, causing them both to laugh.

I give a weak smile, hopefully my uncomfort isn't noticeable.

"Hey," I say trying to avoid Amy's gaze.

"Why do you have so many bags?" Amy asks.

"What?" I ask, as was in my own world.

"I asked, why do you have so many bags?" Amy repeated.

"Oh, um... I'm sleeping over at James and Riley's apartment tonight." I say.

"Oh cool," Amy says.

"Who's James and Riley?" Lily asks really confused.

She's new here and she's never met any of the original A-Troupe members before, and I never talk about James, so it's understandable that she has no idea who James and Riley are. But, now seems like a great time to tell her. I'll talk about anything to avoid talking to Amy about Finn.

"Oh, James is my older brother and Riley is his girlfriend. They both used to dance here at The Next Step, they're pretty legendary actually. Their duet was the reason TNS won Internationals," I tell her.

"Oh that's so cool," Lily replies.

"Yeah, it is. Riley was even Studio Head, at one point. But, then we lost Regionals because of her, so she decided to quit and go to Business school and that's when Emily took over and then TNS East and TNS West happened and then they merged and Emily and Michelle became Co-Studio Heads. But then Emily and Michelle were fired for letting Richelle dance on an injury. So then, you and your mom took over and.... " I realized I was rambling and Lily and Amy were giving me some pretty weird looks. I needed to continue though, we were almost at the studio,"Um, then um, Michelle and Emily came back after you and your mom... I'm over that don't worry. Anyways, then we won Regionals and Michelle left and you came. I think you're all caught up now. Don't you think?" I say, a little out of breath.

"Yeah, thanks Piper," Lily says super confused and probably a little uncomfortable.

They leave to head to the studio, while I go to the locker room to put my stuff away. I sigh out of relief when I walk in and see that Finn is not in the room. Unfortunately, I still have to face him today.

I walk into Studio A and Finn is standing with the rest of the guys, who are having a very animated conversation, while Finn is just standing there looking at the ground. You could tell he was deep in thought.

I decide to go join the girls, when Nick walks into the Studio and tells us that he has an important announcement. We all gather into one big group and stand before Nick, eagerly awaiting the news he was about to share.
