All I could think about was him. How much he lit up my life and always made it better. Nothing could ever come between us, being the most popular couple in the school. Everyone wanted to be us. The captain of the football team and the prettiest girl for miles and miles. Not that anyone would want to compete with me.
That day was the greatest of my life. School went as well as it could, girls from all grades fawning over my new Chanel purse, guys looking at me everywhere I went. I held my head high going to lunch, when I found my regular table decked out in roses, pink and red everywhere, with balloons flying high. Standing next to it all was Jason, my love. I waltz over, shocked at the set-up as he gets down on one knee, holding out a small box, a ring, as he asks me to prom.
The rest of the night flew by. I barely remember going to the party, but it was a big deal. We partied hard and long. Anyone who was a someone was there and only the lameos weren't. Jason was all over me, a little buzzed, but mostly from the excitement of me accepting his request of going to prom. And I couldn't be any happier. Drink after drink, I got sleepier by the minute. Of course, Jason, being the gentleman he is, offered to drive me home. I giggled and tried to refuse, since we had been drinking, but his smile won me over in the end. Staggering, he opened my door and got in the drivers side to take his princess to her castle.
After a big boozy kiss, we were off. I live closer to the country, so we always have fun on the back roads, tonight especially. Just us, racing through the woods, blasting of favorites, and flirting. Whenever I was with Jason, there was never a care in the world for me. I couldn't tear my eyes away from his face, but eventually, I realized I didn't know where we were. Glancing over to the windshield, I see two ginormous yellow eyes.
And then I woke up.
