courtier /ˈkɔːtɪə/ (noun) : nobles who live with the monarch's palaces, traveling with them, partying with them and keeping them company.

courtiers are there to keep their ruler happy. They surround them for favours or protection. They repay this by entertaining and keeping company with their ruler.

Motives

why do your nobles live near the royals? Living at court provides opportunities such as advancement. Courtiers may be using their closeness to the king to gain favours and increase their wealth and power.

 Lady-in-waiting

The lady-in-waiting is the female companion of the queen, a consort, princess or a noblewoman. They are there to keep their lady company. They are women from the top noble families and sometimes royal spouses.

The lover of a king, noble or even a queen . They are usually noblewomen. They hold an important role at court and can be treated as an unofficial queen.

These women look after royal children and teach them.
