Ash
"You have a brother?!" I blinked, surprise claiming my expression. We were walking to Alex's car, and he had just told me that his brother would be home."You've known me for eleven years and you still don't know I have a brother." He sighed, shaking his head. "Yes. He's eighteen. He's visiting. He lives in the town twenty miles north of here. He lives with my dad." Alex shrugged.
"I knew you had a brother! I just forgot!" I grinned at him.
"No you didn't, Ash." He sighed again, unlocking his car and getting inside.
"How do you know?! I could've just been acting surprised!" I got into the passenger seat. Ugh, opening doors is so hard. Why didn't Alex open the door for me like the gentleman he should be? Ugh, rude. Worst best friend ever.
"No you couldn't have, Ash." He started the car, driving out of the parking lot and towards his house. "And if you were wondering, you've never met Matt because he rarely visits, and when he does you're off on a vacation with your family. He's visiting today because it's his birthday and he always spends his birthday with my dad, so my mom wanted him to spend it with us this time. I told my mom you were coming."
"Who's Matt?" I blinked, utterly confuzzled. I played with the hem of my shirt, peering at Alex.
"Nevermind." Alex sighed heavily, rubbing a temple with his hand.
"You should keep both hands on the wheel, Alex. It's dangerous not to!" I pointed at the wheel, then his hand.
"You should shut up, Ash. I'll hurt you if you don't." Alex growled. I pouted, turning my head to watch the trees speed by. Alex was so mean. I was just trying to keep us safe!
"Meanie." I grumbled.
We pulled into Alex's driveway. His mom's car was already parked in it, along with a car I had never seen before.
"Who's car is that?" I asked, peering at it curiously.
"It's Matt's. Matt is my brother, Ash. Do you understand?" Alex talked very slowly, as if I were a child.
"You're so mean to me, Alex! I'm not dumb!" I pouted, crossing my arms. Do you see how mean he is to me?!
"Sure you aren't, Ash." He grinned, opening the door. "C'mon, let me introduce you to Matt."
We walked up to the house, taking our shoes off at the door.
"I'm home, mom! Ashley's with me!" Alex yelled, grabbing my wrist and pulling me to his living room. I saw the back of someone's head on the sofa that faced the television.
"I didn't know you had a girlfriend, Alex." The head said, not looking back at us. I felt a blush rise on my face.
"Matt, Ash isn't my--" I pushed Alex away, interrupting him.
"I'M NOT A GIRL!" I yelled, flailing my arms for added effect. "And it's polite to make eye contact when you're talking to someone!" Alex sighed, shaking his head.
"Huh?" The head turned, revealing the sexiest man that ever lived, and that's saying something, considering I'm still alive! Confusion graced his beautiful face, his eyes a deep blue. His eyes were almost sea green in color, a splash of green intermingling with the blue orbs. Golden flecks shone, sprinkling the deep ocean-like eyes. They pulled me in, threatening to drown me. The guy stood, apparently his name was Matt, peering at me curiously. If I thought his face was beautiful, his body was even better. His arms were well muscled, his chest and abdomen toned. He wore a tight white shirt, showing off his perfectly muscled body. His hair was a light chestnut color, falling into the perfect position. IT LOOKED SO FLUFFY I JUST WANTED TO RUN MY HANDS THROUGH IT AS HE SLOWLY THRU--Wow, Ash. Calm down; you barely knew the guy!
A nudge in the side brought me back to reality.
"Aren't you going to introduce yourself?" Alex said, glancing at me.
"OH! You're very sexy. I MEAN MY NAME IS ASHLEY. I didn't say you were sexy. What? Where'd you get that from? You're crazy, maybe you should see a doctor." I gulped, eyes wide. "You can call me mashed potato. I MEAN YOU CAN CALL ME ASH THOUGH. Why would you call me mashed potato? That's a silly nickname." I laughed nervously. I mentally cursed myself. Why was I so stupid? Oh wait, I'm not stupid. I'm the smartest person I know! I bet he doesn't even realize that I embarrassed myself.
"Um. Okay?" Matt looked at me as if I had three (gorgeous) heads. He quirked a brow. "I'm Matt..." He offered a hand hesitantly. Great, he's afraid of me. Don't worry sexy Matt, I won't bite..hard. I shook his hand.
"So, now that you two met, come on Ash." Alex grabbed my wrist. I squirmed, trying to pull away from him.
"Nooooo! I want to eye rape your brother some more! I mean..I want to watch TV." I blinked. Smooth was my middle name. I grinned.
"Uhh, okay I guess." We both sat down on the couch, me between the two. I shifted uncomfortably whenever my knee happened to brush Matt's. Matt was a lot taller than me. He was probably six foot two. Wait, that means he's almost a foot taller than me!
"Want something to drink, Matt?" Alex asked, standing up.
"Nah, I'm good." I glanced at Matt, drooling a bit as I eyed his body. I heard Alex leaving.
"Hey! You didn't ask if I wanted anything!" I whined, turning to Alex.
"You want a drink, Ash?" Alex asked with a sigh. Psh! He should be honored that he's allowed to get me a drink!
"Mhm! I'll have a--"
"Cool, get it yourself." Alex said, heading to the kitchen. I pouted at his back as he walked away. Stupid Alex! It's his loss!
I heard a quiet snicker from Matt. I spun around, glaring at him.
"What's so funny?!"
"You're an idiot." Matt smirked.
"AM NOT!" I pouted at him.
"Yes you are. Annoying, too. I don't like you." He turned back to the television.
"Meanie." I crossed my arms, standing up. I stomped away, heading to the kitchen. "Aleeeeeeeeeeex! You never told me your brother was a bully!" I frowned, sitting in a seat at the dining table.
"He's not. He just doesn't like you. I'm not surprised." Alex sighed, handing me a root beer. Awwww! He knew me so well.
"What's that supposed to mean?!" I pouted, drinking some root beer.
"You can be annoying. And you get on people's nerves." He shrugged.
I glared down at my root beer. Stupid root beer, making Alex's hot brother not like me. Hm! If that's how it's going to be, I'm going to stop at nothing until Matt liked me!
