China. Where do I begin. I loved my homeland. I grew up there, went to school there, all of my friends we're there. My family. Everyone I loved.
When Mom got sick, I knew it wasn't going to end well. She was constantly at the hospital. In and out. In and out. In and out. So many surgeries and hospital bills. So much money. Money that we didn't have.
I heard on the news about the gang and came to Korea, in hopes of joining. I eventually found them out on a mission.
With all of their guns pointing at me, I calmly asked if I could join.
I went on one mission with them to prove that I was capable. They let me and now my mom's bills are paid and I send my family extra money every month. The only downside is I don't get to see them that often.
"It'll be ok Sicheng. I promise you it will."
10:00 pm
4 hours left
Sicheng's P.O.VI was eating quietly when I see Jungwoo enter the room. He sits down at a table closest to the door, visibly shaken. When the butlers put food in front of him, he just pushes it around, taking small bites occasionally.
I was expecting it when I head Taeil's voice coming through the earpiece.
"We have the codes and the location. I'm sending them to you know. You guys know what to do."
I put my fork on my plate and stand up while Yuta says goodbye to our dinner guests, a group of girls who had come to flirt with him.
We sneak out of the ballroom and into the entrance room, waiting for Mark.
When he appears, he steps out with a huff, looking angry.
"It was probably Hyuck," Yuta whispers to me, "He's whipped for that boy."
"You do realize I can HEAR you right, Mr. Osaka Prince. Now shush it and let's get back to the mission," Mark says annoyed.
"Hormones, am I right," Yuta says with a smirk. I chuckle at his comment.
"Shut up Yuta," Mark hisses before he begins storming across the lobby area.
We walk after the rage induced boy, towards the location of the basement. I glance over at the bar making sure no one was there. Thankfully there wasn't.
"AHA! Found it!" Mark says joyfully, pride written all over his face. He was standing in front of a set of gold doors that blend well into the wall. The only thing that gave them away were the crystal knobs protruding from the wall.
Yuta and I join Mark next to the door. We stand there for several silent minutes before Mark speaks.
"So who's going first?"
"Why don't you do it lover boy," Yuta asks jokingly but Mark didn't take it as a joke.
"Oh if you're so brave then why don't you go, Prince," Mark spits crossing his arms.
"I'll go first," I say with a sigh. I twist the crystal knob and pull the door open and the three of us slip inside.
With no outside light, the room looked like a dungeon, dimly lit by eternal candles and the occasional chandelier. The only thing visible were the first two steps in front of us.
All three of us turn on our phone's flashlights as we begin walking down the stairs. There was silence between us, the only sound apparent was our shoes. The joking manor had left and everything was serious. We were getting closer.
We were welcomed to green laser beams at the bottom of the stairs.
"Sicheng, it's up to you," Mark says, looking over at me.
But I was already one step ahead of him. Slipping my earbuds in, blocking out any outside noise as I studied the pattern of the beams.
I select a song from my shuffle, close my eyes and take in a deep breath, calming myself, centering myself. I must become one with the music, then, I move.
Slowly at first, warming up to the beat but not misstepping. Then I pick up the pace. Moving more intricately as the lasers began to move behind my eyelids.
My movement fluid, my body limber, the music fills me. Taking over every part of my body and for a moment, I'm back home in the ballet studio. Just me and the dance.
I took ballet when I was younger, before my mom got sick and we couldn't afford it anymore. My instructor told me if I hadn't stopped, I could have been a famous dancer.
I enter the final twist as the last note strikes. As silence slips in again, I take a bow, open my eyes, and take the earbuds out.
"That's my boy," Yuta shouts from across the way. Mark hits him with the back of his hand. I could hear Yuta's tiny ouch as he rubs the spot. I smile softly before turning to the number box.
I grab my phone and look at the numbers Taeil sent me earlier, carefully punching each one in. If I messed up now, the whole mission would be in shambles.
"Code accepted," a robotic voice said as the lasers shut off. Now it was safe for Mark and Yuta to pass.
"See, that wasn't so hard," Yuta says dramatically.
"I'm going to kill you later," Mark says giving him the death stare.
"Oh you love me," Yuta says putting his arm around Mark with a bright smile. Mark just rolls his eyes at the action.
I chuckle softly. They really were the biggest idiots but they were his idiots so what could he do?
