It is the second term, Mathew starts writing a letter to Elizabeth about his feelings for her and he finally finishes it a week later, but doesn't give it to her yet. The next day he asks Elizabeth if she likes anyone Elizabeth said "What no" Mathew said " Are you sure because you seem to be hanging out alot with that guy jack, do you like him? " Elizabeth said "yeah I'm sure i don't, why do you ask" "just wondering" Mathew said. The next day Mathew sent the letter to Elizabeth... Her answer was... "I'm sorry I don't feel the same for you and I all ready have a boyfriend" Mathew started to cry when he got the text and said "oh ok that's fine I understand" Elizabeth didn't know he was crying and then said " we can still be friends though" Elizabeth said again "don't give up on love I know you will find someone else" "ok" Mathew said... Now Mathew wasn't crying because she didn't feel the same for him, he was crying because she lied to him. He thought they were supposed to be best friends but his thoughts on that changed when she lied to him about her not liking jack. That's when he took her advice to not give up on love and that's when he started talking to a different girl...
