"Aaron, wake up. It is your turn to drive me to school," I tell my brother who is currently still in bed. "Hurry up, I am going to be late."
He groans, not moving a muscle. He leaves me no choice but to drag him out of bed. "Why can't you just learn to take the bus? You are in high school for starters."
"I didn't see you take the bus in high school."
"What are you talking about? I took the bus everyday. You are just too childish and immature to even consider it."
I shake my head. "That's not going to convince me. Plus my foot is injured. Now drive me you lazy ass."
He didn't look satisfied with the results but he had no other choice. My mom ordered him to. By the time I arrived to school, I was late by a few minutes. Luckily for me, the teacher didn't take attendance yet.
"Why are you late?" My neighbor nudges me by the arm.
"What do you mean? I am always late to school."
"Yeah," He agrees. "But normally you are not this late."
I shrug my shoulders. The teacher was in the middle of giving a lecture and I did not want to interrupt. "It's not important, don't worry about it."

Lunch rolls by slowly and my stomach is growling like a lion. I take a seat on my normal table that's placed right outside the doors of the cafeteria. I don't know what I would do on a rainy day.
"Hey, sorry I'm late. My biology teacher held us in until the whole class cleaned up the lab," I say. "Anyways, what is for lunch?"
"Pizza," Willow replies, poking a fork through her pizza. I flinch and cringe at her sudden movement. "Huh? It's actually not that bad."
"Good to know. I think I'll just stick with the sandwich my mom made for me," I speak, taking out a brown bag.
I gag at the mixture scent of sandwiches and school supplies. "Are you guys going to the back to school dance?" Aiden asks.
"Why would I?" Willow replies back.
"To have fun, but in your case, you get extra credit for some classes," Aiden says brightly, putting her name on the list online. "Anyone wanna join me?"
"I'll go if Kavren does," Willow chimes in.
I shrug my shoulders. "Why not?"
"Great, I'll sign us up. Also Kavren, Sherlock at nine o clock," Aiden smiles uncontrollably. Sherlock is a nickname we use to represent Kaden from my physical education class. The first part of the name reminded us of keys and keys go along with locks. So Sherlock.
I hold in a smile and give myself a forceful slap on the cheek. "Hey, Aiden," Kaden speaks.
"Hey Sher-I mean Kaden," Aiden scrunches her face into a ball with her hands in a shape of a shield. "That was on accident I swear," she whispers into my ear.
My face is redder than a tomato. "Are you going to the dance?" Kaden asks.
"Yeah, what about you?" Aiden replies back and he nods his head. "You know who else is going with us? Kavren! Oh, and Willow. But mainly Kavren."
Willow raises her eyebrow. "Wow, thanks."
"That's cool, see you both this Friday then. And Willow of course." Kaden says. As he walks away, Willow delivers a fake but believable smile in return.
"I honestly don't know what you see in him. He's more stupid than my little brother." Willow shakes her head. "Just an hour ago he asked our teacher if a pumpkin was a squash."
"Leave him alone, he's being curious and that's a good question to ask," Aiden joins in the conversation, sticking up for Kaden. Aiden and Kaden known each for awhile now. They are like those best friends who act like siblings.
Willow is left speechless. She grabs the bridge of her nose and squeezes it. "All I'm saying is Kavren deserves someone who doesn't have a brain that's the size of a walnut. Or Kaden."
"What do you have against him anyways?" Aiden questions.
"Nothing, I find the boy very charming and polite," replies sarcastically, picking up her books. "The bell is going to ring soon, I'll see you guys after school."
My following classes list by Japanese, English, and physical education. None of them I have friends in besides from physical education. In my opinion, physical education is useless to me, especially with my broken leg.
The incident happened eight months ago during badminton practice. This just proves that no good comes out of sports. All of a sudden, an unfamiliar figure is seated next to me.
"Wait here as I get an ice pack," The teacher tells Kaden directly.
He holds onto his leg painfully and roughly. "Ugh, fuck," He pushes through.
My mouth felt very dry. I wanted to speak but I couldn't form the words together. In the end, I resulted to sitting there with my hands folded on my lap.
"Here you go, take the rest of class off. In the meantime, why don't you talk to Kavren here. You both seem to have a lot of common," He chuckles, pointing to my boot.
Kaden nods his head and accept the ice pack. He places it down on his knee. "So, what happened to your leg?" He asks.
"Oh-I-uh-got injured during badminton practice a few months ago. What about you?"
"I twisted it on the last curve," Kaden says, referring to the mile run he just ran. "How long will it take to heal for you?"
"Full recovery is in three months."
"Wow, don't worry, you'll be out there playing badminton in no time."
I lightly nod my head in disagreement. I hate badminton. I hate sports. I hate anything that involves physical movement. "Thanks."
"Its now 3:07. Class dismissed," Mr. Liang calls aloud.
I stand up from the bench. "Hope you feel better."
"You too," he flashes a smile back.
