While I'm in the business of updating my Wattpad, here's a collection of essays from that one time I spent a couple of months in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

A bit of background:

I went to one of those colleges where everyone does fascinating internships at NGOs or Goldman Sachs or whatever every summer, because we have to Network and Build Our Résumés and stuff.

And I realized that if I had to spend another summer working in Midtown Manhattan I was going to jump in front of an oncoming E train. So I thought. Hm. What else can I do?

I speak French (ish). Where do they speak French?

My first thought was Haiti. You'd think it would be France, but no. So I looked up alternative media groups in Haiti since I was interested in that sort of thing. A few months later, I was on a plane to Port-au-Prince.

This is a collection of stories about convincing yourself you're not a white savior, trying to live in a foreign country, and being privileged in a place of poverty. Enjoy.
