My name is Kaitlyn. Now I am about to tell you my story. The best story of my life. It all started January 24th, 2001. I was 19. I lived in Los Angeles, California with my mom ,Catherine, my dad ,Michael, my sister ,Jessica, and my brother Jacob. I was the youngest. We grew up very poor ,and had to deal with more than any kid should've ever had to go through. We suffered with going to terrible schools with gangs ,violence, and fights that went on almost everyday. They always ended with someone knocked out on the ground ,and even after they were knocked out they would still be kicking them on the ground. It was awful to see. I never liked to watch. I watched one day and saw how terrible it was. I never watched again. I did have some great friends until they started all trying to act cool ,and hang out with the popular kids. They even started smoking and doing drugs. So I just stopped being friends with them and never talked to them again. So I was alone. January 24th, 2001 was one of the best days of my life. I got a letter in the mail that said "Hello Kaitlyn. This is a letter from Princeton University. We have seen your grades and how amazing you have done ,and we would be honored to have you attend our university. That's why we are giving you a full scholarship to go to school at our university. Please call us and let us know as soon as possible. Thank you." I was so happy! It was the best news I had ever gotten! My parents were so happy for me! It made me feel so smart! I've always wanted to be a lawyer when I was older ,and I had finally had the chance to do it! So my parents paid for my plane ticket ,and I was on my way! I had never been more excited in my life! I was also very nervous at the same time. It was a lot to take in all at one time.
