Epilogue
"You finished?" I ask, looking over at Chloe's almost empty cereal bowl.
"Yah. Can we go see daddy today?" She asks
"Of course. Now why don't you go get dressed?"
"Sure mommy."
I sigh as I grab her bowl and take it over to the sink.
Chloe runs down the stairs, wearing an actually normal outfit today. She's decided on a pair of leggings and a cute top with a little bow on the neckline. The only problem is her shoes.
"Chlo, I think you've mixed up your shoes. Do you want me to help?"
"Yes please." She says, sitting on the stairs.
I kneel down, switching the little fake Uggs she chose to wear.
"Thanks." She says, standing up.
I smile. She's grown up so fast. 2 years fly by so fast.
I haven't been on a lot of missions for the last few years cause of her. But I don't mind.
"Can we go now?"
"Let me go get ready, then we can go."
Her eyes light up. She has her dads eyes. Un-humanly blue.
I turn on the tv and then run upstairs, quickly pulling on a pair of jeans and a light lilac colored shirt. The same one I was wearing when I first met him.
"Ready to go?" I call down to Chloe.
"Yes." She calls back.
I quickly grab a pair of flats and run down to her.
"You look pretty, mom!" She squeals.
"So do you." I say, lightly bopping her nose.
"I see why dad loves you."
"I see why dad loves you." I tell her back, emphasizing the you.
"Mommy?" She looks up at me.
"Yes dear?"
"Why is daddy locked up? Why doesn't he live with us?"
He stomach drops. She'd never asked this before.
"That's a story for when you're older."
"But I want to know now."
I begin to panic a bit.
"I know, you want to know. But that's a more mature subject. When you're ready, I'll tell you."
She nods as we head out the door, the sun creating a glare almost impossible to see through.
But Chloe knows the way like the back of her hand. She practically leads me there.

He smiles at us as I unlock the door.
"DADDY!" Chloe squeals, jumping onto Chris's lap.
"How's my little Chlo-bird?" He questions, tickling her feet.
He leans over and gives me a kiss as I sit next to him.
He smiles, and I weakly return it back.
"What's wrong?" He asks.
"She asked why you were here and not living with us." I whisper to him.
He draws in his breath. "What'd you say?"
"I told her its a story for when she's older."
"Like a good mom." He kisses my forehead as he continues to play with Chloe.
And I smile.
