I can remember how it all started like it was yesterday. It was a day like any other. Wake up, go to school, the usual. But one day something was added to that routine. I woke up just like any other day. I went into the bathroom to get ready like always, looked in the mirror and saw the same old me. Brown, messy hair and brown eyes.
After I had gotten ready I went downstairs to eat breakfast when I heard something on the news. "This is a marvelous discovery! While exploring the depths of the ocean floor scientists found a small sample of an element never discovered before! This could change how we see the world as we know it," the news reporter said. It was a small rock that was opaque on the outside with a purple core in the middle. It seemed unearthly, alien almost. "Man, they are finding all sorts of crazy things down there." Luke's mom walks over and sits down with Luke. "With how vast the ocean is I wouldn't be surprised if they found a whole civilization down there." I nodded in agreement. Ever since scientists came up with this deep ocean explorer they've found out more about the ocean within a few years than they have in centuries.
As we are watching the news I looked up at the clock. "I better head out. Don't want to be late again." As I ran out the door I waved to my mom and walked off down the street. As I was walking I noticed the sky getting darker. "That's funny. I don't remember it saying it was going to rain in the weather forecast." I quickly ran to school in hopes I could get there before it started raining. As I got closer to my school I saw my two friends Chase Finkle and Kade Danafar. Chase has black hair with purple eyes. He isn't much taller than me. Only about 5'9". And as for Kade he was a full blonde. He even had the blue eyes, but he was much shorter than me and Chase. Probably about 5'4". "Hey what's up Luke?" Kade said. "Nothing much. Just waiting for this storm to hit." I said as I walked over to them.
We started walking to our classroom together when Chase elbowed my arm. "Hey Luke look who it is." Chase said with a smirk on his face. I looked in the direction he was pointing and saw who he was talking about. It was a girl with long, Brown hair and green eyes. Her name is Elizabeth Lequain. She's the most popular girl in the school. Pretty, smart, and kind to everyone she meets. Almost every guy in this school wants to ask her out, including me. "You should go talk to her man. People are gonna think your weird if you just keep staring." said Kade. "Like I could talk to her. And besides she could have any guy she wanted, why would she want me?" I said. I walked down the hallway towards my classroom again with Chase and Kade following close behind. Without me noticing Elizabeth looks over at me. She stares for a second, then grows a smile on her face as she continued to talk to her friends.
Class was as boring as it usually is. I've always been good at all the subjects in school so I've never really had trouble with my studies. But that's exactly why I find it boring. It's too easy. It's gotten to where others will go to ME instead of the teachers for help. Even my friends Chase and Kade go to me for help, but I don't mind those two asking. I'm always happy to help my friends. When class ended the three of us walked towards the gate of the school. "Hey Luke! Did you watch the news this morning?" Said Kade. "Yes I did. Why you ask?" "Did you see that cool looking rock? It was all cool and glowy." Said Kade "If anything it looks like it came straight from outer space. But they found
it in an ocean cave, so I doubt it came from there." said Chase. "Yea I agree. Something just feels off about it. I can't say what but I don't like it." I said. When we reached a fork in the road I separated from both Chade and Kade. As I walked down the road towards my house I looked up at the sky. It wasn't raining, but the sky was even darker than this morning.
When I get home I go to bed without eating dinner. "Honey are you okay? You never miss out on dinner." Said mom. "I'm fine. Just had a long day today." Even though I didn't want to believe it she was right. I don't know why but I just feel exhausted. As I lay down I slowly drift off to sleep. That night I had a strange dream. I was in a dark, empty room. Then out of nowhere a purple light shined above me. It was alluring, almost like it was calling to me. As I reached out to it I felt lighter. I was getting closer but my legs weren't moving. The light was growing brighter and brighter until I was bathed in it. It felt warm but something was off. I couldn't tell what it was, but whatever it is, I don't like it.
