It's hard growing up without a dad. Without that moral support that a mom just can't quite understand, not having a dad to protect you from the harsh world. It's just me and my mom. Dad's out of the picture. I never knew him, and Mom won't even tell me his name. She says it brings up harsh memories. Its too hard. I'll tell you when you ready. I never get an actual answer.
Right now, I'm walking to school. The best place to be in the world. I walk by the old church, the wood broken down and almost collapsing in on itself, and the mold covering more than half the building, and vines running through it. The building always give my goosebumps as I walk past, I form know why, but every time I feel the bumps rising in my skin, and my body shivering. Quickly I walk faster and my body's tension lessens and I walk at a normal speed again, until a car stops next to me. A bright red mustang slows down almost to a stop, a girl leans her head outside the window and screams "Just die in a hole loser!" And I hear girls laughing as they speed up and drive away before I could retort. I would've blasted her with some snarky and rude comment about her, confusingly low IQ but she zoomed off to fast. It was Chloe Williams and her crew, Chloe Williams, the most popular girl in school, but seems to be the dumbest too.
I finally arrive at the crap bucket called school. If you haven't noticed school isn't my favorite thing to do in the world, but apparently I still gotta go. Even though I'm on a collage level, I still need to go. Freaking stupid.
I am quite high on the social status, I mean like almost Chloe high, because everyone likes me, but honestly, I don't have any friends, but who would want to be friends with a bunch of dumb bimbos who throw themselves at boys. So I just still to myself and my wonderful life.
As I walk down the hallway multiple people comment about me, whether it's to my face or in someone's ear. "Hey loser, go jump off a bridge!" Some boy yelled from behind me. I quickly spun around.
"Well maybe if I jumped I wouldn't have to hear your voice everyday...... Tempting." He scowled at me and left me alone. I walked to English class, my favorite class, no sarcasm, it's actually my favorite class, and the teacher likes me, which is kinda weird. Not many people like me, at all.
"Hey, Nova." My English teacher greets me.
"Hey, Mr. Charles." I say, he smiles at me, and I take a seat at the back of the class.
I take out my sketchbook and start doodling, cause what else do I have to do? I start drawing an eye, just for modes practice. Making the lines, thin and light, in case I need to erase, since the eraser is my best friend. I start to put in ear phones, doing judge, I do it every class, but someone taps my shoulder. I turn skeptical, and see an unfamiliar face. No one I know. He stares at me. All I can do is examine since, I don't know what to say.
He has blond slicked back hair, not long but not super short. Bright blue eyes that glow like someone lit a glow stick. A square-ish jaw, and a strong build. What is he doing trying to talking to me? I can bet in less than five minutes some girl will be all over him.
Still having no idea I do what anyone would do. "Hi?" I say, not clarifying whether it's a question or statement.
"Hi, I'm Ace." He says, his voice is deep. With a dark-ish feeling. "So-" He starts but I cut him off.
"Why are you talking to me exactly?" I ask. He looks at me confused.
"Well if you don't want me to I won't." He says defensively.
"Well, I'm just not used to anyone actually talking to me." Another guy walks up to him, and stares at me, then back at him, and whispers something to him. I can bet five bucks it's about me.
