Chapter Two: Arrived

As proud as I am in myself for getting in I'm a little nervous. Granted, my whole entire future is on the line if I mess this up. On one hand, I'm proud of myself for getting in. On the other hand, if I mess up, my whole life, including my many, many other children's lives and future are at stake. Again, I'm a little nervous.

The car ride to the school wasn't that bad. We listened to "The Swan Lake's" soundtrack for most of the car ride. My siblings were there along with my parents were there so I didn't feel completely alone, so I talked with my family with most of the car ride, but I did stop talking to listen to my music or the music I listen to on my phone you can say. Usually, I listen to Broadway musical soundtracks, like Dear Evan Hanson or Wicked, but sometimes I like to stretch my horizons and listen to Hamilton or The Heathers. I didn't really get to listen to my music long because it was a thirty-minute drive.

As if I wasn't shaking enough, we were already here. That was the quickest thirty minutes I have ever experienced! Just looking out the window it was a huge school. It's a boarding school for heaven's sake! Ethier way, I came out of the car and hugged my family goodbye, well, everyone except for Emma. I just gave her a smile and a wave while she did her usual jealous glare. My dad came to me with the rest of my stuff.

"Well," he started "That's about everything. The last thing you have is your violin."

"Does she really need it?" my mom asked, "It's a dancing school, not a-" Before she could finish, I cut her off.

"Yes!" I shouted, hoping that the whole entire world didn't hear me. "It's for good luck."

"Well, if you say so," my mom said, looking at me like I've gone mad.

She ran over to me, giving me a hug. She went to this school and was so happy to see me go, but she didn't want to cause drama with nostalgia, so she decided to stay in the car with my siblings while my dad walked in with me to help me move in.

"I'm gonna miss you so much." my mom said. I saw tears in her eyes even though she promised not to make a scene.

My dad guided me to go in. Before getting to the first step, I turned back to say goodbye. I waved while my siblings waved back. My mom just sat there and cried. Emma just gave me the middle finger, I didn't really care at that point. We walked into the building to see many parents with there kids. There was a really big line, but it didn't take long before it was my turn. The adviser was a young lady around her twenties. She shouted next, so my dad and I walked over.

"Your name?" she asked, looking at her list.

"Lorette Alder." my dad answered. Before we knew, the whole entire room went quiet. The only thing we could hear was the many whispers and murmurs from the parents and kids. The adviser's eyes were wide. She couldn't believe she was talking to an Alder.

"Alder?" she asked, still in shock, "The Alder"

"The one and only" I answered.

The adviser was still in shock but flipped through her list. She found my room number and got the keys. She handed me them with the same face.

"Here you go..." she spoke, "Have a great year."

My dad and I just walked over to the elevator, going past all the people staring, oohing and aahing. When we got into the elevator, with no one in there, we just started laughing. That was comedy gold. I couldn't believe what I just saw. We got to my room. I could tell because of the name on the door. I saw many names, about five in total. We walked in and thankfully saw nobody in there. After that fiasco, I don't think my poor heart could handle any more humor.

After what felt like a few rounds up and down the building all my stuff was in my room. My dad made sure we didn't miss anything. We were good and ready to start the school year. I put my violin in my closet and my handbag on my bed.

"That's everything." my dad said, "Before I go, your mom wanted me to tell you about your money and bank account, sending you letters and calls, food and drinks, stores and online shopping, and to make sure I didn't forget about your peri-." I cut him off before he could finish.

"Ok ok, no no" I stopped him "Just text me all the details"

"But you need to know now," he said

"Well, you can call me once you're in the car, don't worry, I will remind you."

He was a bit worried but shook it off. He came in for a hug, I hugged back. This would be the last I saw him before winter break. I told him I'll call him and the family as much as I could, and promise to make a schedule for shopping and more.

"There's one more thing you need to do," he stated, "Follow your dreams my little star."

He left after waving and saying goodbye. And there I stood, the start of my adventure. I started feeling homesick and a bit lonely before I heard the door opening.
