They might not have entered yet,
but I can hear 'em whisper quiet.
Behind the door they're standing tall,
ready to break in my minds wall
With sticks and knives and guns they wait,
until the folks they sleep in peace.
And when the time is wrong o'clock,
in they'r gonna quietly sneak
Believing Lord to be a guardian strong,
leading flock to grass and grain.
We fall asleep on his warm watch,
but reality mocks like a disguised fiend
Its about ups and downs but mostly downs,
Chaos floats and peace often drowns.
Like a giant cake with happiness iced,
which mostly tastes of the sorrow inside
So in they came, Temptation first
standing behind were greed and lust.
Their mighty blows they woke me up,
My shallow existence was now perturbed
Miseries were next and alongside fears,
they had me in pieces and pain and tears.
Sometimes bleeding just isn't in the red;
Sometimes you end up living like a dead.
My limbs felt weak, my spirit weary,
Its hard when you have yourself to carry
There was nothing I could do to set me free,
so I knelt down defeated and just let it be
That's when I heard an assuring knock,
Hope entered in amidst all the havoc.
With a lively smile it lend me a hand,
In its strong presence again I could stand
Faith followed next and wiped my tears,
then glanced at fear with intent so clear.
Afraid of the gaze so stiff it fled away scared,
and in its absence miseries were already dead
Then suddenly as if I were caressed like a child,
I could feel a warm presence comforting and so kind
I turned towards the door and saw love come in
with each move it made, I felt the pain receding.
It was here to vanquish all the evil offenders,
The antagonists ,they all bowed down surrendered,
Unto them Love declared as they crawled to the door,
Its my fortress this heart, come here no more
With a heart peaceful and conscience free,
I asked my rescuers who sent them here,
Love stepped closer and gave me a paper,
which read 'with lots of love from lord, your shepherd...'
