Showering

You will need:

Sweat Scraper, Shampoo and Conditioner, Sponge or Scrubber Mitten, and Water

Step 1

First you need to tie up your horse and make sure it is not too loose that he will step on the lead rope and get tangled or spook. But don't make it too tight where he cannot move at all.

Step 2

Grab your hose/bucket and make sure the temperature is just right for your horse. Start rinsing him off. Including the head, neck, and behind. Make sure you get under his tail (his pooper).

Step 3

Grab your shampoo (I like to use Mane 'N Tail shampoo and conditioner) and pour a generous amount on either your hand, sponge, or scrubber mitten. Scrub it all over, making sure that you get the area where you saddle and girth go. Don't forget to put some in their mane and tail.

Step 4

Grab your hose, and rinse off the shampoo. Get your conditioner (also Mane 'N Tail), pouring a generous amount on whatever you are using, and clean off your horse with it. Get all the major points too. Rinse him off after.

Step 5

Repeat Steps 3-4 one more time. Taking your time rinsing out all conditioner and shampoo. You don't want to leave any in their coat or hair because they will get crusties when your horse drys, they will not have a soft coat. You will have to brush out the crusty coat if that happens. To make sure that all shampoo and conditioner is out, run the hose through the coat and check if you can see soap bubbles. If so, the you might need to take thirty more seconds than normal rinsing off the coat.

Step 6

Take your sweat scraper or squeegee an swipe it across their belly, back, butt, under their barrel, and neck. Last thing to do is have him dry off. You can either put him on a hot walker (which is what I do), or take a dry towel and dry hi off yourself.

Congradulations, you now have a clean and nice smelling horse!
