Ever wonder what it's like going to the other side? Is everything all white, and houses are built on top of clouds? Is there even a heaven or a hell, or when we die do we still exist in their world in some sort of invisible plain where no one see's us? The question of there even being a heaven or a hell is a mere conspiracy, because who in the world has died and came back to life? No one really knows the answer to all these questions and we can conspire all we'd like, but I believe that the closest we'll ever come to these answers is inside of our dreams where anything goes.

In a lot of my dreams (some not written down) I am myself, but as a male. It still does not make sense to me, but I always wonder if it is because I surround myself with more males than females hence I tend to act more like one? Regardless of why I always look the same, I have hair a shade darker than my own but the same piercing blue eyes that some say can stare into your soul. I am always in all black attire; black jeans, shirt, shoes, and whatever accessories I happen to be wearing during the dream. In this dream I was that male version of myself, and the dream started with me inside of a strange woods hiding behind some trees. The way that everything was set up was a little too perfect. There was a perfect man-made dirt path in the center of where I was, and trees were lining the path. Human civilization wasn't something to be seen for a handful of miles, and I was completely alone. There were no birds chirping happily, no buzzing of insects flying by. Not even the sound of the wind blowing filled the air, I was surrounded by silence and it engulfed their entire forest making everything seem super eerie. The silence lasted quite a while, and it made me unsure of what I was actually waiting for. Right after I completed my thought, my question was answered by the sound of something I couldn't put my finger on filled the air.

After a handful of minutes, a horse and carriage came into view at the very end of the pathway. As it neared closer I was able to see that the carriage was rather large and completely empty. The horses were a midnight color, and there was an invisible being holding the reigns. It was definitely not something you'd see in the everyday life, but something told me this was not the land of the living. When the carriage rode past my hiding spot, a black portal appeared in the middle of the dirt rode and the invisible person guided the carriage inside. Once the back end of it was inside of the portal it swallowed it whole, and disappeared. It made me wonder where it was going, and why considering there was no one in the back of the carriage. All I knew is that everyday I found myself wandering in the forest, and somehow I always ended up at the same spot watching the carriage be engulfed by the darkness of that portal.

Eventually there were others who appeared in the same spot I always found myself going to, and they also wondered about the carriage. None of us spoke a word to each other, but we all knew why we were there; we wanted out. As the days passed I remembered faces of people I once knew and my heart ached for them. After a full week of watching the carriage disappear I realized that I was dead, and this was the otherworld. More than anything I wanted to see the faces of the people I remembered, because I never truly got to say goodbye. After the second week of wandering around the forest, the others and I decided that we wanted to hop the carriage and see where it would take us. After everyone finally gaining the ability to form words we came up with a plan. "Ok, so when it starts on the dirt path we all just pile in. Only a few of us should go at a time the first day, then more go the second, third, and so on." I told everyone and they nodded in agreement. Somehow I had become the leader of everyone, since I was the first to appear in the forest. When the day finally arrived for us to complete the plan, we waited patiently at the start of the path.

Everything was silent just like the beginning of it all when I first appeared in the forest. It took a while, but finally we all heard the sound of the horses nearing closer. I looked around at the four others who would be joining me today and nodded at them in approval. As soon as the carriage passed us, we ran after it and hopped in one by one. I put my finger up to my mouth so everyone would remain quiet and the invisible being wouldn't know we hopped on the back. The way to the portal was agonizing and seemed like it was taking forever. We didn't really knew how we would know we went through the portal, only that we needed to be patient. I peeked out the door to see if we were close, then the carriage stopped. I didn't see the portal appear in front of us, but I heard someone inside the carriage gasp. When I came back inside I saw that the back of the carriage was starting to get swallowed by the blackness. Everyone started to panic as the darkness came closer and started to consume them, but I remained calm as the darkness approached me.

I was ready.

There was no escaping now, and we did what we came here to do. I opened my arms and closed my eyes as the darkness finally consumed me. Everything was black but I felt content, I am coming home.
