Lucine - or as her friends now called her, Lucy - slammed the door of her room shut and leaned against it, fresh tears of both pain and sadness burring her vision. Her neck and back hurt, they hurt bad. Careful not to agitate anything, Lucy carefully unzipped her yellow blazer and allowed it to fall to the floor, revealing a white t-shirt. However, the back of it....was stained red.
Lucy involuntarily let out a small cry of pain as she removed the other two pieces of clothing from her top half, but did it nonetheless. Once her top half was exposed, Lucy let out ragged breaths as cold air met open wounds.
Knock! Knock! Knock!
The wounded girl froze when a knocking sound came from the other side of her door, and a familiar voice spoke up. "Lucy, are you alright in there?"
"Yeah, I'm okay Zane." Lucy responded as she yanked a bathrobe from the wall, though her voice gave her pain away.
"Lucy, let me in." Zane said calmly, but the slightest amount of concern could be picked up.
"Alright." Lucy replied, putting on the bathrobe and slowly opening the door.
She was met with a very worried looking Zane standing in the doorway, seeming to try and find anything that indicated that something was wrong. Then, his grey-teal eyes fell on the blood-stained shirt, and Lucy panicked.
"Zane, that's not what it looks-" she tried to say, but Zane interrupted by gently grabbing her shoulders and turning her around so her back was facing him.
"Let me see." was all he said.
Lucy shook he head wildly, unsure if Zane would make the wounds hurt more, not to mention that she had nothing on her top half with a male in the same room.
"I'll be gentle, I promise. Just please let me see." Zane reassured with comforting hand on her shoulder, doing his best to comfort her.
Lucine let out a deep shuddering breath, and let the robe fall. She expected Zane to gasp, to take a few steps back, to do something. But no, he simply remained silent and still, causing Lucy to tremble in fear.
"Zane?" she said weakly, hoping to get a response.
Silence.
"Zane you're scaring me," Lucy whimpered, trembling more violently. "Zane say something! Please!"
Silence.
Lucy began to hyperventilate and felt light-headed, and before she knew it, Lucine fell forward and lost consciousness. However, she did hear Zane's panicked shouts.

Lucy let out a soft groan as she began to wake up, though was surprised to find out that the pain in her back had faded to a dull ache. Opening her eyes, she was temporary blinded by the lights of the Island Infirmary.
"What in the world?" she thought, sitting up.
Suddenly, a pair of arms wrapped themselves around her, and a familiar voiced spoke up. "Oh thank Ra Lucy, you really scared me."
Lucy blinked, then turned her head and looked Zane dead in the eye. "Zane, you scared me!" she snapped. "You were so quiet it really scared me, I didn't know what was wrong."
Zane sighed and looked down. "Sorry Lucy," he told her softly. "I was just shocked by your injuries, that's all."
Lucy nodded, then leaned into Zane. "Thanks Zane, I'm glad I have you."
Zane rested his head on Lucine's head. "No problem Lucy, I'll always be here for you," he told them. "You're one of my best friends."
Lucy smiled, then allowed the darkness of sleep to claim her.
