She froze in place when she heard who her partner was. She was nervous, but also exited. She would finally have a conversation with her crush. What if they share the same interests? What if they become friends? There were millions of thoughts running through her mind as she headed over to Dolph.

She took the empty seat next to Dolph who was talking to someone else. She gently tapped his shoulder.

"Um...h-hi." She said shyly to the boy.

He turned around and looked almost curious, but (Y/N) didn't notice.

"So should we get started on the project?" she asked in a friendly way, but still shy.

"Yeah, listen..." he began as he sighed, "do you mind if I partner up with someone else?"

(Y/N) blinked in surprise, she wasn't expecting that at all. She put on a sad smile and shook her head.

"No I don't mind. I'll j-just do my project by myself then." She said, sounding a little broken.

Without saying another word she turned and went back to her desk and sat by herself. Everybody was talking and laughing while doing their project, except (Y/N).

'I never felt so alone before' she thought.

When Dolph rejected her like that, she felt almost heart broken. She should have known that he was just like all the other popular jock assholes that only care about their popularity. God forbid that the popular Dolph would be seen with the shy quiet girl.

'Well I better get this stupid project done.' She thought as she started working.

Dolph's POV:

I pretended to laugh at my stupid friend's conversation as I looked back at (Y/N). God I felt so guilty seeing her sitting there by herself and doing this project alone. Why did I reject her like that? When I saw that sad smile my heart broke.

I actually have a crush on (Y/N). Even though she's quiet most of the time, I've seen her with her friends and she's a really cool and funny girl, not to mention she's a real beautiful girl. But whenever she's out of her friend circle, she becomes the quiet girl everybody sees her as. I kind of find her cute when she's shy, but I know what a great girl she is.

I mentally slapped myself when I rejected her. For what? My popularity? I'm such an idiot! Now she probably thinks I'm a conceited idiot who only cares about my reputation. I need to make it up to her somehow.

Your POV:

When the final bell rang, I turned in my project and left the classroom quickly. I was still sad about what happened earlier with Dolph, but I tried to let it go. He doesn't like me and that's that. I went to my locker to put away my books and ready to go home when I was met a soft friendly face.

"Hi Harrison." I said.

"Hey, (Y/N)." he said softly.

Harrison and I have been really good friends since freshman year, mainly because we are both shy and quiet.

"So what's up?" I said causally.

"W-well I just wanted to ask you if y-you wanted to go to P-Prom with me?" he stuttered.

"Prom?" I asked as if I never heard that word before.

"Y-yeah, the senior prom? It's in two weeks." He said a little worried.

"Oh yeah! Prom!" I suddenly remembered, wow I felt stupid.

"S-so what do you say, (Y/N)?" Harrison asked again.

"Of course I'll go with you, Harrison!" I said happily and I hugged him.

He stiffed up a bit but then relaxed and hugged me back. We pulled away from each other and there was an awkward moment.

"Do you want to go get an ice cream with me?" he asked a little more confidently.

I smiled, forgetting my saddened state, and took his hand, "Yeah let's go!" and we both left the campus.

The next day I went to school with new positive attitude. I was so happy; I was going to Prom with Harrison! We were going to hang out again after school, and I couldn't wait!

I went to my locker to get my (first class) text book. I closed the locker door and I saw Dolph standing there in front of me, and my smile faded. I began to turn to walk away.

"(Y/N), wait please!" he said behind me.

I sighed and turned around, "What is it, Dolph?" I said coldly.

"(Y/N), I'm really sorry for I did yesterday." He said gently.

"It's okay." I said emotionlessly and began to walk past him, but he stopped me.

"No it's not. What I did was totally not cool, and you don't deserve to be treated like that." He said.

"Well, thank you." I said.

"And I wanted to make it up to you by taking you to Prom with me." He said, and my heart sank.

"Oh well I'm sorry Dolph, but Harrison is taking me." I said, feeling a little sorry for him.

"Oh! Okay then..." He said, surprised and disappointed, "Well again, I'm sorry for what I did yesterday and I hope you have a good time with Harrison." He said and walked away, trying to hide the forming tears in his eyes.

Prom night:

Dolph's POV:

I sighed in annoyance as my 'date' went on arguing with another girl about some stupid drama. I ignored them and chugged down my fruit punch. I was sitting at my table alone while the dance floor with filled with happy couples slow dancing to a slow song.

I dropped my cup when I saw her. (Y/N) and Harrison were in the middle of the crowd, slow dancing in each other's embrace. Holy hell! (Y/N) looked like a goddess in that (fav.color) dress. It showed off her womanly curves and her beautiful skin tone. Her (h/c) hair was put up perfectly, and her makeup was not over done like all the others girls were. But that eye makeup made her look so pretty!

Dolph felt jealous of Harrison, but also felt happy for him. He knew they were perfect for each other and they were happy together.

He sat alone on prom night thinking about that day he rejected (Y/N). If he hadn't let his pride get in the way he just might have had a chance with her, a chance to tell her that he loved her.

I'm sorry, (Y/N)...
