Life was pretty normal for me. I woke up, went to school, came back home and that was it. Maybe went out with friends a couple times but nothing really extraordinary. Sometimes it was so normal that I wished I lived in an alternative universe with dragons and werewolves and all these awesome creatures but I would probably get killed in a universe like that. I'm a clumsy and awkward teenage girl, ok? I think I would actually get killed by falling on a sword than getting grilled to death by a badass dragon. Getting grilled to death by a dragon actually sounded pretty good to me right now. It was lunch time, and I was sitting across from my best friend. And she looked like she would explode at any second from excitement, so I knew I had to listen to her ramble about something. Usually about things I really couldn't care less about.
"So, what is it?" I asked and raised my eyebrow slightly.
"What why-" Amy started but immediately stopped when she saw my blank face and sighed, "Alright, I heard these girls in my math class talk about some party a guy is throwing in the weekend", She confessed and played with her food on her plate like it was nothing.
"Yeah, so?" I asked carelessly. Parties never really were my thing, but I knew for a fact that Amy loved them. Everytime she heard there was a party somewhere, she would be all ears. She basically lived to go to parties and try to make friends with the popular and cute guys.
"So I was thinking that we should go." Amy looked me with hope in her eyes and I shook my head while letting out a light chuckle.
"You want me to go to a party with you?" I snorted and took a sip from my drink.
"C'mon! You never go to any parties! You should let loose for once, Hadley. I promise, it will be fun", Amy begged and I smirked at her mischievously. "Think about me! Think about my status in this school if I show up to a party with no company? It will be the end of me! You don't want that for your best friend, don't you?"
I put on a thoughtful face and looked at the ceiling, trying to look like I was thinking about something really important.
"Goddammit, Amy. I guess I can come", I threw my hands up in the air as a sign of me giving up. Amy let out an exciting yelp and I rolled my eyes at her.
"Only this one time, ok?"
"OH MY GOD AMY", I yelled in the phone that I struggled to keep on my ear, as I threw clothes out of my closet, "What do you wear to a party?"
"Calm down", Amy chuckled and I sighed loudly.
"Don't laugh at me! This is a emergency", I said, but continued whispering; "A fashion emergency."
"Ok superstar, I got it. Do you want me to come at your house?"
"Please."
In not more than 10 minutes I heard someone knocking at our door and I runned to our little lobby while screaming "I'll get it!"
I opened the door revealing a smirking Amy behind it and a relieved sigh escaped from my lips.
"Thank god, you're here. I was having a really bad crisis", I said and dragged her from the front door to my room.
"Well you're really lucky now that the best styler in the world is here", Amy shrugged and sat on my bed.
I glared at her but couldn't help but let a little smile find its way on my face.
"Don't flatter yourself. Now, help me so I don't look like an idiot."
The music was played on a ridiculously high volume and I swear to god I was close to getting deaf. And we weren't even inside yet.
"This seems like a stupid teenage movie", I mumbled and tried to tug my short dress closer to my knees.
Amy had convinced me to wear this dark red dress that was way too short in my opinion and I was really starting to regret wearing it.
"Don't be such a loser, Hadley. C'mon, we have to get inside", Amy grinned and started to lead me to the house that was already making me anxious.
The amount of people that were inside that house was unbelievable. There were people literally everywhere. This was definitely a scene from a stupid teenage movie. Amy handed me a red plastic cup full of liquid and I stared at my friend in disbelief.
"There are red cups? Like in movies?" I asked and Amy laughed at me while downing her own drink.
I stared at the cup and then slowly brought it closer to my lips. And then I drank it. Like literally drank it in one go. It was horrible.
"What the fuck was in that?!" I yelled but it was drowned under the blasting music.
And then I realised that Amy wasn't even in the same spot anymore. She had vanished completely out of my sight. I sighed to myself and tried to look for her, but with no luck.
"Great", I muttered and started to make way through the mass of dancing people, only to bump into someone's hard chest making me stumble backwards.
Just as I thought I would fall on the floor someone's hand grapped me from my back and I looked up with wide eyes to find a tall boy looking back at me.
"Watch where you're going, princess."
