Naomi
"I'm you the truth! He wants you to come chill with him at his place!" Bella cheesed happily. I side eyed her as I made my way down the hall. She's entirely too happy about this. School has only been in session for six months. This is my last year school is number one right now. I'm not looking for a boyfriend. If I'm going to be a surgeon I really need to buckle down.
"Two things. One he didn't ask me. Two I'm not worried about boys Bell! I'm focusing on school!" She mocked along with me as I put my things in my locker. "You need to live a little." She rolled her eyes. She muttered tapping away on her phone with a devious smirk. "What are you up to?" I dimmed my eyes at her.
"Nain boo." She smiled and took my hand leading me to our first class of the day.
Ahh chemistry! Don't you love science?! Normally Bella and I sit next to each other but she had something else in mind. She has been trying to get with the new guy Abel who gives her no time of day. I have him in a few of my other classes and he's really shy, but he's sweet.
"How you doing babeh girl?" Marcus said coolly as he sat beside me.
"I'm good. You?" I hummed focusing as I wrote what the teacher put on the board for us to copy down. "I'm ok, but I'll be better if you come chill with me this weekend." His southern accent flowed deeply making my heart pick up in it's pace. Stopping my writing I turned my head to look at him to see him grinning at me. “What do you really want Alsina? Last I heard you couldn’t stand, and I quote, my prude ass.” He licked his lips and look at the front of the class before looking at me.
"I’m sorry about that. I was just pissed and I directed my anger at the wrong person. Forgive me?" he gave a cute puppy dog pout and it made me laugh. Facing the front of the class I glanced at him out the corner of my eyes.
"You’re forgiven."
Forgiven enough for you to come chill with me?”
I laughed and shrugged and thought about it and wrote down my number quickly on a scrap piece of paper. “Text me sometime and we can talk about when and where.” I slid him the paper.
Bella just so happened to walk pass and I can tell she was too geeked. In her seat she made the motions that he was gon’ hit it from the back mouthing; “He gon wax that ass!”
"Ms. Christy! Do I need to send you to the office?"
Her and Mrs. Robertson went back and forth until she was sent to the office. Knowing her she only sat in the hall until class is over.
____
"I knew you liked him!" Bella squealed. "Why you putting words in my mouth? I did not say all that. All I said was that he's cute." I laughed eating the fruit provided with today's lunch. "If you didn't like him to some degree he would not have your number right now!" She laughed stuffing a french fry into her mouth.
"Shut the entire fuck up!" I laughed stealing one of her french fries.
"There go my future baby daddy." She drooled as Abel walked over to the table and sat with Kimberly. Kim was on the heavier side with pretty smooth chocolate skin. "I hate that fat bitch." Bella muttered eating a fry angrily.
"Stop that. That ain't cool Bell and you know it." I scolded. Kim is a cool chick I have her in a few of my classes and if I have to be partnered with anybody it has to be her! Even over Bella. Bella is my bestie and all, but lets be real she is lazy when it comes to school work.
"Don't preach at me. I call it like I see it."
"No you're just pissed Abel doesn't give you the time of day, but sits and smiles all up in her face." I corrected with an obnoxious cackle. "I hate yo' ass. Phucking skettel." she murmured rolling her hazel eyes. "Don't get mad because I'm calling you out on your shit." I shrugged finishing my fruit cup. I got up to toss my trash and on the way back I caught eyes with Tremaine Neverson.
I don't know what it is with him. Ever since middle school we always look at each other. Majority of the time its me catching him staring at me. He might wave and thats about it. Nothing more, nothing less. "Baby girl." a deep southern accent caused me to turn around. It was Marcus and he was sitting with the basketball team when he waved me over.
Doing so I coquettishly strolled over to the booths that they occupied. "Wassup Marcus?" I hummed taking the seat provided next to him. "Nothing I wanted you to sit with me." he smirked chewing on his loaded fries.
"Oh then that means you're sharing." I informed taking some of his loaded fries. "You just gon' take sum of ma stuff?" he chuckled and I nodded with a sweet smile. "You got that." he grinned before returning to the conversation his friends were having. We sat there until it was time to go to our next class. "What you doing after school?" he inquired and I shrugged.
"Probably just my homework.
"Nah lets go to the movies. Its Friday night we can see whatever you want."
A smile danced on my lips as I nodded. "Okay...text me tonight." I hummed glancing back at him before stepping into the class room just as the bell rang.
____
"Feels so damn good to be home!" I hollered tossing my bag onto the couch. I walked through the living room to the kitchen. I opened the fridge and grabbed my daily smoothie and some carrots. After I washed those I cut the ends off and waltzed back into the living room. I kicked my feet up and flipped through the tv channels and settled on Bad Girls Club.
My mother works as a office coordinator so I won't see her until she gets home in about three hours or so. She's usually gone before I get up or as I'm getting up to get ready for school. We hang mainly on Saturdays if she isn't too tired. My phone rang in my back pocket so I leaned to the left and pulled it out to see a text from a unsaved number.
(630) 578-4698: Sup bae?
Me: Nothing, eating. Hbu?
Marcus: You always eating lol
Me: Lol no I'm not
Marcus: Yes you are, but dats coo lol
Laughing I continued to text this fool until I finished my snack and decided to get the few worksheets that I had done now. "Omi!" (pronounced O-me) I heard my mother holler. "In my room!" I answered putting away my homework. Humming to SWV's Right Here I swayed my body to the beat. "Don't you get tired of music?" My mother turned it down and sat on the foot of my bed. "No." I shook my head with a smile.
"You're weird girl. I don't know what you eating tonight because I ain't cooking."
"I'm going out tonight so I'll eat then."
I dug in my closet for a pair of jeans and a crop top. "With who?" She rolled her neck with a skeptical look. "Justin Bieber, Mama. No a boy from school." I laughed laying my clothes on my desk. "Who is this boy? I want to meet him. Naomi I promise you—." I had to cut her off.
"Mama chill! You can meet him when he picks me up if you have to. I'm only going to the movies. I hate when you act like this. I'm not going to do anything stupid. Trust me some time." I huffed digging for a change of under clothes.
"I trust you. I don't trust the manish ass boys. Just be home by ten thirty."
"Eleven."
"Ten forty-five."
"Deal."
I smiled shaking her hand. She'll be sleep by then anyway so it won't really matter what time I come in. As long as I'm in my bed by four in the morning I'll be in the clear.
