jeongguk awoke to the honey golden glow of seokjin's bedroom.

the elder must have long since abandoned his side of the bed, as the space was cold to the touch just beneath the touch of jeongguk's fingertips. the heavy drapes were pulled apart from the window, letting the tulle curtains that were still pulled behind them filter in a hazy stream of sunlight.

jeongguk preened like a cat when he pulled the duvet off of him, feeling the subdued warmth spread over his skin. the student inhaled before releasing a loud yawn, a squeak passing his lips when he stretched his arms high over his head. the penthouse was void of any noise that didn't come from the outside. lapping shore waves and the call of seabirds kept him company in his early morning lonesome.

he quickly recalled seokjin having errands to run before spending the rest of the day with jeongguk as promised. the standalone thought of just the two of them hanging out encouraged jeongguk to leave the bed faster and move to freshen up as quickly as possible. he wasn't sure when seokjin would return, though figuring it would be around early noon and no later than that.

he chose to wrap himself in one of seokjin's many robes, rather than dressing in going-out-clothes. he stood in seokjin's bathroom closet, narrowing his eyes at the unnecessary amount of robes presented before him. there was a satin red one, that stopped just at the center of his thighs. a sheer one that draped his frame in a delicate yellow shade, ending at his ankles and wrapping at the waist. there were so many that differed from each he'd laid his eyes on, but in the end, he chose a plush white one with faux fur trimming.

striding out of the bathroom, jeongguk made his way through the hall and into the kitchen. instead of brewing a cup of coffee, he filled a sleek kettle with water and set it to boil. he dug through cabinets to find where the professor kept his teas, finding their boxes tucked neatly into a corner. he placed a bag of green tea into a sea-blue mug.

while the water was busy heating up, jeongguk took it upon himself to liven up the air in the penthouse. he spread the curtains wide and opened up the balcony doors. he watched the curtains billow as the wind swept in, always looking on with such interest. he felt like playing some music as well, but had no idea where the speakers were. with a sigh of resignation, he instead brought out seokjin's work laptop to the settee on the balcony before walking back into the kitchen when the kettle began to whistle.

he figured he'd get some homework done in his wait for seokjin to return from his errands.

it was two hours later, jeongguk having completed an outline for his art theory assignment, when his phone pinged from beside him. mindlessly picking it up and swiping the notification to the right, his eyes were still glued to the laptop and skimming through an email one of his professors sent.
