The auditorium had become their place in a way.
After a day of completely different lifes the two boys find a common ground, that is the comfortable silence of the auditorium.
It was never discussed but it just kinda happened.
Neither talked much, both of them too scared theyd say something to make the other run off.
So they sat, in a silence far from
Awkward, day after day.Though no words were spoken as the days turned to weeks the boys felt like they were getting to know each other.
Louis could tell harry was not happy, and he assumes he hasn't been for a while.
He knew from the way the boy- probably unknowingly -curled in on himself, away from louis.
He knew from the way harry would stare off at nothing and frown seeming to be thinking hard about something. Or how he never really held louis gaze.
He knew from the way harry walked in with a forced smile and empty eyes.
And Harry knew louis was curious. He seemex to be full of questions he was too scared to ask. Perhaps about the rumors he was sure to have already heard. Or maybe he wanted to just get to know harry. Know things like his favorite color, what he likes to eat etc.
-
Its fifteen minutes into lunch period and louis is sat in the auditorium alone.
His leg bounced anxiously as he watched the door, willing it to open.
But it didn't. Obviously.
Louis has never been much of a positive thinker so his mind immediately went to his first day. Vivid images of tom having harry pinned against the locker. His eyes wide in fear, yet empty all in one.
Without a second tbought louis stood up hoping he wouldnt walk into the same situation.
He wasnt sure why it mattered so much. Harry was just a kid he sits in silence with for about 30 minutes a day.
But it did matter and for some reason harry wasnt just a kid he sat with.
Just when he reached the door it flew open nearly hitting him in the face.
And conveniently in walked harry.
Louis stared at him in shock and relief.
Harry blushed a bit flustered having louis eyes on him so intently.
His hand gripped the door nob, subconsciously as he muttered. "Oops.."
Louis smiled gently stepping back so harry could come in "Hi"
Harry looked at him. "W-were you leaving?" He asked softly afraid louis didnt want to sit with him anymore. He couldnt help but be extremly insecure about their.... friendship?
Louis shook his head again. "No- i mean. Yes. I was leaving-"
"O-oh..." harry breathed not meeting louis eyes. He could feel his eyes burn with the beginning of tears because, of course. No one ever stuck around long anyway, so he didnt know why he thought louis would. He shouldnt get his hopes up, but he always does.
"No, No. Harry i was going to look for you" louis explained softly trying his best to meet harrys gaze.
Harry looked up with furrowed eyebrows and a slight pout, but he was hopeful. "Why?"
Louis raised an eyebrow glancing at his watch. " you were fifteen minutes late.... i was... worried" he admitted watching for harrys reaction.
The boys eyes widened. Louis was worried about him, Because he was fifteen minutes late?
That was ridiculous. Yet he still felt his heart stutter in his chest at louis words.
He didnt say anything further just closing the door gently before taking a seat.
Louis watched him before sitting next to him. The younger boy squirmed but didnt move away to keep a seat between them like usual. Progress.
"I-I was talking to a teacher..." harry finally spoke. He felt he should at least explain why he was so late.
"I failed a test.." he whispered the last part, a bit ashamed. He didnt want Louis to think he was dumb.Louis hummed in response feeling no need to comment, sensing harrys discomfort.
Harry appreciated it.
And just like that they were back to sitting silently, their soft breaths and breif glances being their only communication.
It was a nice feeling to be able to just sit with someone comfortably and not feel the need to say anything.
It was quite hard for both boys to be comfortable with people especially having just met them.
But for harry and louis it was easy.
-
The bell rung and both boys jumped slightly looking at eachother.
Harry pulled his lip between his teeth waiting for louis to say something. Anything.
Louis wet his lips eyes searching harrys green ones. " What class do you have?" He asked because he didnt want to part ways just yet but he couldn't figure out anything else to say.
Harry thought a second before answering. "Gym"
Louis nodded.
"You?"
"Calculus"
Harry nodded.
They both sat in silence before harry figured he should get to class. He stood up adjusting the backpack on his shoulders gripping the straps anxiously. "B-bye." He stuttered before turning.
"Harry wait" louis breathed standing as well.
Harry turned quickly. "Yeah?"
"Err... did you want to hang out after school... not at my house of course. I know you get nervous... maybe somewhere more open? Cafe?" He askes hopefully, speaking a bit faster than usual.
Harry was silent, his eyebrows furrowed in thought.
Should he?
Itd been so long since hes had someone who genuinely wanted to hang out with him. To think of it hes never really had someone like that.
Was he willing to give up an offer like that?
Hell no.
So without a second thought he nodded.
"Yes"Louis grinned.
