Jack woke before anyone else in the house. Getting up he quietly made his way downstairs to start a pot of coffee. The house silent. While the coffee brewed he went into the living room and turned on the tv turning on the rock music station. "I need to find my speaker." He mumbled to himself while walking back into the kitchen to make cinnamon rolls. He yawned putting the rolls into the oven. Going off into his office he found his Bluetooth speaker. Unplugging it from the charger he carried it into the kitchen. Soon the house was filled with the smell of cinnamon and the sound of Motionless in white. He smiled hearing footsteps coming down the stairs. Anna plopped into a chair with her coffee.
"I took today off. I was thinking we could go to the zoo. "He leaned against the counter waiting for the rolls to finish. "The one with the dolphins though. And the sting rays. Are we taking Raven too?" Jack shrugged "if you want to." She nodded finishing her coffee. Jack took the rolls from the oven leaving them to cool. Going upstairs he showered putting his usual black jeans and a random band shirt. He gently tapped on Ravens door to see if he was awake. The small puff ball of a boy was brushing out his now sky blue hair and pulling it into pigtails. He stuck out like a sore thumb the house was a gothic Victorian along with Jack and Anna both Normally wearing black. Not Raven, he was dressed in sparkly bubble gum pink leggings with a fluffy black off the shoulder sweater and black and pink combat boots.
Jack smiled entering the room he helped brush out the boys hair. "Would you like to come to the zoo?" Grabbing hair ties from a container on the dresser he tied Ravens hair into massive space buns. "Yes please." He smiled staying in place while Jack did his hair. "Great, I'll be downstairs. There is cinnamon rolls on the stove. " Raven nodded as Jack left the room and entered his own room grabbing keys and helping Anna get ready. Picking her up with ease he walked downstairs to where Raven was perched on the counter top eating a roll. "Come on fluff ball. ". Raven jumped off the counter following them outside. Jack decided on his truck instead of the hearse. Loading everyone in they drove the 45 miles to the zoo.
The ride didn't really take long but it seemed like forever. Once there jack went to get them tickets while Anna took Raven around the gift shop. She had her heart set on a Dolphin plushie while Raven carried around a tiny red lobster. After purchasing both along with. A few other trinkets they set off into the zoo.Raven was almost impossible to keep up with as he darted off straight for the otter exibxit. With a laugh they both followed. "I want otters. "Anna sat on one of the low walls watching them float around. "There is a pond in the back yard over by the woods. It probably has a few." He kept watch of Raven who was standing on a rail trying to feed one of the babies.
After the otters came the turtles, then snakes and pandas. It took both Anna and Jack to stop Raven from trying to steal one of the babies. Instead Jack got him a life size plushie. After that was owls along with another incident and a promise to both Anna and Raven that they could get Snowy owls. Followed by a trip to the Harp seals. Which resulted in Raven carrying a baby around for a few hours before he was forced to give it back to the zoo keepers. Lastly was the bats which was one of Anna's favorites and then finally the dolphins and sting rays. They stayed until closing by the time they where finished there was more plushies in Jacks truck then people.
By the time they got home Raven and Anna had fallen asleep. With a smile Jack carried them both inside before going back out to get their plethora of plushies. Separating them he made sure each pile was safely placed with the rightful owner before going downstairs into his office. After hours of searching both would have snowy owls by 10am the next morning. Staying up to finish paperwork Jack looked at the clock. It was only 2am but he could hear laughing coming from upstairs. Taking off his glasses he went back upstairs, to his surprise Anna was still asleep. Confused he crossed the hall slightly opening Ravens door he watched the boy he was talking to no one.
"Raven? Who are you talking to? It's 2am you should be sleeping. "Jack was almost scared of the answer. "I'm talking to Luna!" Raven pointed to the empty spot next to him on the bed. Jack nodded taking in a shaking breath. How nice, the little Russian they found in the wall talked to the dead. "Alright, But can you keep it down? Anna is sleeping." Raven nodded with a smile. Going back downstairs Jack settled into his chair again. He could feel a coldness on his neck. Ignoring it he continued working. Getting colder it traveled down his chest to his stomach. From the corner of his eye he could see Raven standing in the doorway. He looked like the undead. His pale skin glowed in the dim light. "Luna wants to play with you now." He smiled before running upstairs again.
The coldness traveled lower chilling jacks inner thighs. Is this what he meant by play? Taking a breath he tried to ignore it. A sharp pain in his lower back he yelled. Reaching around he pulled his fountain pen from out of his side. What the hell was this thing. "Luna that's enough. I'm trying to work." With those words every plate and cup came flying out of the kitchen cabinets. He heard foot steps run back upstairs and his bedroom door slam and lock. Luna wanted to play.
