Leila's P.O.V.
No one believes in me, and no one ever gives a chance to prove soemthing of myself. I just needed one opportunity to show everyone that people can and should follow their dream, no matter what obstacles. When I found out that the X Factor 2012 was coming to London, I KNEW it was a sign.
But it would mean practice, practice, and more practice.
And convincing my mom, which would probably be the hardest part of it all. Even my parents had no hope for my dream. Whenever I would sing in my room, they would always shout, " Keep quiet and do something use full with your life! Everyone knows, you won't make it! Snap into reality already!"
It became a drug to me, to prove them wrong.
Auditions would start in two weeks. To most people two weeks is more than enough time... But not to anyone who had parents like mine.
And so many things I would need to decide on, for this audition, that could change my life.
First, a reason. A reason why this means so much to me. That was easy, to prove everyone wrong.
Second, clothes. You need to make a good first impression, right?
And third, a song. A song that demonstrates your voice more than any other.
I had figure out the song right away. The A Team by Ed Sheeran. I love that man and that song. All I needed left was the clothes.
I had decided on a simply white tee shirt with a British flag printed on it with a beige cardigan, black skinny jeans and black TOMS. Perfect!
Now to just convince my parents. Damn! This is gonna be hard...
I walked into the kitchen, where my mom was chopping vegetables for dinner. I walked up to her with a stupid grin plastered on my face. I poked her shoulder, causing her to turn around, giving me a welcoming smile.
Her smile slowly faded after about 10 seconds.
"What do you want me to do for you?"
She saw right through my smile.... Damn! Guess I'll just have to come out and ask.
"Mom, you know that Television show, The X Factor?"
She nodded slow.
"Well, I was wondering if... I could uhh-.... if I could... Audition for it."
Her smile was now fully gone as she looked deep into my eyes.
"When, where and how long will it be?"
I was so shocked at her answer, I stumbled back a few steps trying to regain my balance.
"Well.. It would be at London, in three weeks and only a couple of hours long."
"Fine."
I felt my heart lift up and the hundred pound's being lifted off my shoulders.
"You will?"
"If it means that you will stop with this childish dream, then yes. Leila your 18 for crying out loud! Time to get a real job."
There it was. That was the catch. For me to stop believing I can make it, after being declined from the judges. What nice, supportive parents I have... Not.
Yes, I will admit I am a 18 year old who still believe's in becoming a singer. But I am so much more than that. I, Leila Elizabeth Armstrong, am a 18 year old singer, with no experience, not very popular at school but get's high marks. Has no boyfriend and probably never will. Honestly, boys are the last thing on my mind. I'm more interested on important things in life... Like, singing. Hehehe.
