Chapter 2: The Basics

I woke up in the same room and saw bandages wrapped around my stomach and left arm. I looked to my right and saw Sadie asleep on a wooden chair. I put the blanket over her and headed to the living room are and saw my sword on the tabletop, after entering the room I went and sat on the couch. I still felt tired so I went to take a nap.

I was going to take a nap when I heard the door open, I turned around and saw Sadie by the door, she then sat beside me. I felt sorry because I just took off on her.

"I'm really sorry for taking off on you." I said. "I know you must be very angry with me right now, and you should be, but..."

"It's okay i'm not mad, I was just a bit worried when you were gone. But then I used 'Hunt' to track you down... I saw how you were brave, it just really inspired me to be better." Sadie said to me.

We both sat there in silence for a moment taking in what we've heard from each other.

"I--" I stammered. "I want to become stronger."

Sadie looked at me and smiled a little and then stood up.

"It's decided... I'm going to teach you the basics." Sadie said enthusiastically.

"Really?" I said in disbelief.

"Yup." She replied.

"I thought you said that I was average?" I asked.

"I said you looked average, you were the one who said you were average." answered Sadie.

I smiled, and then I saw her blush then look away and headed towards the door.

"Where are you going?" I asked her.

"We are going on a quest." She answered calmly. "Are you coming or what?"

"You know it." I said happily.

I grabbed my sword and headed out to the guild hall with Sadie. Once we reached it we went towards the boards from yesterday, It had a bunch of quests. Sadie grabbed one that read "Reward 50 gil per Crotel killed."

"What do you think?" She asked me.

"What's a Crotel?" I asked her.

"You'll see once we get there." She replied.

We then went towards the booth area and saw five people in a line and only one booth open. After waiting we went in and saw Catherine again.

"Hey guys!" said Catherine

"Hey." We both said in sync.

"I would like to turn in a quest and accept a new one." said Sadie.

"Alright, you got three Lukans killed in one night, that's purrfect." Catherine said whilst sifting through a paper bag.

"Three Lukans in one night... That's how much I killed." I thought

"I'm surprised you were able to take all three of them down even though they can revive once." she continued.

"What!?" I yelled out without thinking.

"Dammit." Sadie said.

"I could've died but I didn't and then I woke up in..." I paused.

I looked at Sadie and I could tell she was guilty because of how she was poking her two index fingers. She then forced a smile.

"I'm sorry, after watching what you've gone through... I thought you needed that satisfaction of killing them... I'm so sorry!" Sadie said and bowed her head down.
