I rapidly fire the bullets at the target. All bullseyes. I've always felt comfortable using a gun even though I'm so young. Probably because my father is in the military and taught me how to shoot and protect myself when I was only 10. Thank God for that or I probably wouldn't be alive.
I reload my gun and start firing again. Not only do I enjoy shooting, it also helps me release my anger. And right now I got a lot of anger.
My gun clicks signaling I'm out of
ammo. I sigh and set my gun down. How did I get here? What happened to you, Abby? I reload my gun, put it in my holster and walk out of the firing range.
I walk down the halls of the Ascend main base not looking at anyone I walk past. I didn't want to look at any of these people. They were the ones that dragged me into this mess. They came to me to help with their damn war and now they won't even let me do anything.
I stop walking and look out the big glass window that lets you look into the hanger bay. Six big rovers are pulling out and heading into woods that surround the base. I should be on those trucks. But no I'm not. I'm stuck here because these people don't want to worry about "babysitting" a 17 year old girl who knows more about the base they're trying to infiltrate than all their agents combined. If all your men die it's not my fault. Should've sent me with the squadron. You're mistake. "You're damn mistake."
"Still mad then I take it?" Adam says from behind me.
I look at him with a death look. "Yes. Wouldn't you be?"
"I don't know. I don't have a giant attitude like you do so."
I roll my eyes. I've know Adam Fang since I was kid and but we haven't really talked since freshman year. This whole situation has brought us closer and we are actually pretty close friends. But he will forever annoy me with his jabs at my attitude. "Yeah, I have an attitude I get it. And you'll make it worse if you continue to point that out."
"Okay, okay, relax. But in all honestly you need to let this thing go. They made their decision and that's final. You're not in charge believe it or not."
"I get I'm not in charge, idiot. I'm just sick of them underestimating me. So what if I'm 17? My father is the general of the army, and I lived in those bases when I was a kid and I know them inside and out. I'd be their biggest asset out there."
"Yeah, I think everyone know that you're the biggest asset Ascend has right now. They just don't want to have to worry about a minor getting killed in the field."
I roll my eyes. "Oh please, I can beat the crap out of half the agents they have. My Dad taught me self-defense when I was ten years old. And I'm a better shot than half of these people."
"They probably just don't want to risk it. You're too young and you're important because if everything you know. You'll get your chance to prove yourself in the field, Abby, don't worry. You're a good agent." Adam walks away towards the barracks.
I sigh. How did you get here, Abby? You should be worrying about what college you want to go to not proving that your a good agent to some secret agency trying to take over the government. You should've told them no when they asked you to help.
But you didn't, and now you're here...helping tear a country apart.
