~Backstory~
Y/N POV
I come from a poor family where my parents have divorced. I live with my younger brother Last/Name (L/N) Jacob and my mother. As for my dad, he has a new family of his own.

*Present Time*
Y/N POV
My family and I are eating dinner which is just egg and cup noodles I made at our small family table in our small, run-down house with a very holey roof. I want so badly to help my mother so I finally decide to speak up,

"Mom, I want to help you" I state breaking the silence that had filled the room,

"With what? It's okay Y/N, even if we're poor I can do it, you shouldn't have to pay for anything" my mom replied smiling sadly, Jacob hugged Mom then went back to eating.

"Mom I want to work and get a job and help" I say,

"What?!" My mom said clearly shocked, "No Y/N, It's okay I can do it" I walked over to my mom and hug her,

"Mom please" I beg,

"But...What kind of work? You can't finish your studies if you do this..." she said, worried. I thought for a moment,

"Maid," I finally answer then calmly explain before she can yell,

"I want a bigger house than this with a less holey roof, I want to eat delicious food that's not the same old egg and cup noodles for dinner every night, and I want to be able to help pay for Jacob's studies" My mom thinks about it for a second before finally deciding to give in,

"When will you start to apply?" She asks nervously. I immediately respond,

"Tomorrow, the sooner I can help the better" My mom slowly nodded her head in acceptance,

"Okay..." she said before going back to eating. The three of us then finish our meal in silence, each person left to their own thoughts.

*2 Hours Later*
Y/N POV
I look over at the clock and see that it's 7:30 at night. I guess I should be heading to bed now considering Jacob is already asleep in the opposite side of our tiny couch. I stand up and walk over to my mom, I give her a hug because aside from at dinner it's been a while since I've shown her any physical affection,

"Goodnight Mom," I say softly so I don't wake Jacob up,

"Goodnight Y/N, don't forget that we love you so much and don't work too much okay?" My mom replies,

"Yes Mom, of course, and I love you too" I tell her and walk over to Jacob, giving him a light kiss on his forehead,

"I love you too Jacob, Sleep well baby brother" I softly whisper to him and lay a thin blanket over him, knowing that if I carried him to his room he would wake up and not go back to sleep. I then go to my room and lay on my thin mattress that lays on floor in the corner of my almost empty room and start thinking about tomorrow and how many people would accept my application and hire me. After several hours of thought I finally manage to close my eyes and sleep peacefully.
