The clicking sound of heels entered the ballroom as a girl wearing a stunning dress trailed behind her older sister. Abruptly stopping, the older sister turns to the younger one. "Now dear sister, I want you to mingle among people. No more standing in the corner wishing you were at home, better yet maybe you'll find the perfect Suitor for you." The oldest said with a bit of hope that the little one will comply.

The youngest sighed. "Angelica, sister I cannot promise you that I'll find a suitor, all men just want me for our family name. But I'll try for your sake." She said reluctantly. A small squeal left Angelica's lips as soon her sister agreed as she clapped in delight. "Wonderful! Now which of the men in the crowd do you find physically appealing Eliza?" Angelica asked as she scanned the ballroom looking for potential lovers.

"Angelica, there's more to a man then just his looks. I hope you'll soon realize that." Eliza sighed shaking her head. Her eyes scanned the room, stopping on a handsome man laughing with a man she knows as Aaron Burr. A revolution soldier popular among his peers.

Angelica poked her sisters side gaining her attention. "What do you think of him?" She whispered into Eliza's ear. Eliza turned to where her sister pointed and saw a man with beautifully combed hair, a jawline sharp enough to give you a cut, and an aura that dazzles the room.

Eliza froze, her heart beating slightly faster. "this ones mine." Eliza whispered back to her sister. Angelica smirked with eyes full of mischief. Without warning she begins to make her way across the room, approaching the man.

"Angelica what are you doing?? I called dibs." Eliza whisper-shouted at her sister hoping she would hear her from across the room. She pouted, slightly upset. Angelica was the type to always be in the spot light in their family, there was none who has met her and not fallen for her sister.

Angelica grabbed the mysterious man by the arm, catching his eye. 'Oh no, what is she doing? I'll never have a chance now.' The younger sister thought. Eliza sighed knowing that her sister has caught his eye by now. There was never a dull moment in the presence of Angelica. She watches the man and eldest sister talk among themselves, every once and awhile laughing. It was if the world had faded and all that was left were the two standing before her.

"Now what is a beautiful lady like yourself doing in the shadows?" A voice spoke, startling her. She averted her gaze to the sudden voice and froze. There stood another handsome man with dark brown shoulder length hair tied in a small ponytail and a clean cut suit. Eliza cleared her throat gaining back her composure. "My sister seems to have abandoned me for a gentleman. I'm not generally one for parties alone." Eliza said keeping her eyes on her sister.

"Would you mind if I accompany you then? my brother seems to have disappeared on me as well." The man asked her politely.

Eliza made eye contact with the man once again, trying not to ogle him. "My name is Elizabeth Schuyler but you can call me Eliza, What is your name?" She asked with curiosity. He grabbed her hand, bringing it to his lips as he bowed slightly. "A beautiful name for a beautiful girl, my name is Elijah Mikaelson." Elijah said as he kissed her hand. Eliza blushed as she curtsied to the man.

"A pleasure meeting you, I would love for you to accompany me." She said with a beaming smile, happy to not be alone anymore.

Elijah returned the smile with a smooth nod of the head. The music in the room seemed lively as the participants of the ball danced in pairs,  as if everyone was oblivious to the war that was brewing in months time. The duo watched the dance floor with nothing but the company of one another relaxing them. "So Elijah, tell me about yourself." Eliza asked keeping her eyes on the dance floor. Elijah glance at her for a moment, taking in the beautiful sight before him.
