Iris Rose stepped into the elevator of the pent house on the top floor of the Rose Hotel. Her parents owned the Rose Hotel in Manhattan, New York. Her father an entrepreneur for Rose Industries, and her mother the Secretary have bought this hotel and many other iconic buildings along New York.
Iris leaned against the cold metal walls and pressed floor 1, taking a deep breath as she prepared herself to descend down 100 stories slowly. The soft elevator music playing in the background as she fixed her lipstick.
Iris was glamorous. Everything she owned was designer. From her purses to sunglasses to clothes all the way down to her underwear.
She went to a very expensive private school right in the heart of the city. As she stepped out of the building she walked to the curb to meet her driver, Harold.
"Hello Mrs. Rose," he said opening the back door to a limousine. "I hope you do not mind but I have brought my son Luke with us today. He couldn't hail a cab in time and he attends the same school as you."
Iris scoffed and chuckled dryly. "Very well," she replied rudely before settling into the backseat of the long black car. Harold sighed and shut the door softly before jogging onto his side and getting into the car.
Luke sighed lightly and fixed his blazer as he sat up in his seat. He tried to look in the mirror to take an actual up close look at her. The closest he thinks he will ever get. Iris Rose the most popular girl in the school. The prettiest girl, the richest girl. She wouldn't want anything to do with Luke, a driver's son, a Brooklyn boy. But he couln't help but to have a crush. He has had a crush on her since he bumped into her in the third grade. He has watched as she matured. Playing close attention to the small details, like as her long, wavy, brown hair grew, as her bright brown eyes widened and began to look more innocent even though she just got worse. He couldn't help but to wonder about how Iris really is. Is she actually as mean as she looks? Is she really just a rich girl that he is wasting his time on?
Iris looked up from her iPhone and her big brown eyes met Luke's round blue ones. A feint blush crept up on the blonde boy's cheek and he started to look away before he saw a small smile crack on her pretty pink lips. The heat in his cheeks became hotter as he smiled back at her. But Iris turned her head and those small seconds were over.
***************
Iris walked up the steps towards the entrance of the school and sat at the very top. She tapped her Louis Vuitton heels slightly as she waited for her minions to arrive with yogurt and coffee.
"I'm sorry we are late Iris," the blonde one named Violet said worriedly. She was worried that Iris would take the yogurt and the coffee and dump them on her just done hair. Or that she would do that and never be "friends" with her again. Violet bit her lip nervously before she felt Iris's small, newly manicured hands take the yogurt and frappe out of hers. "It's okay," Iris smiled softly, "Please come sit." The three girls all raised their eyebrows at Iris's calmness and well niceness. They took a seat at her feet and sipped at their coffee. Quietly waiting for some cruel words about someone at school to fall out of Iris's mouth but to their surprise they heard a small giggle.
"I-Is something wrong?" Charlotte the freckled red- head asked nervously. "Is something f-funny?" Iris looked at her and smiled, "Just thinking is all."
But what was going through Iris Rose's head? Was it how good that coffee was? Was it how strangely comfortable those stairs were? Did she get an A on that history exxam due yesterday? Or was it a boy?
