The day of my big move was finally upon me and as usual, I didn't get much sleep. I moved through my morning routine in an orderly fashion, taking one last look at my apartment as I gathered up my belongings and headed out the door. Except leaving here was going to be bittersweet. I was going to miss my friends and the people I worked with over the years. But the memories I made here would last me a lifetime. As I reached the lobby, my landlord wasn't up yet so I left the keys on the counter with a note saying THANKS FOR EVERYTHING.

Outside, the sun was shining with partial clouds in the air and the overwhelming feeling of an extra bounce in my step. Only that feeling came to an end when I saw a black luxury sedan parked out front of my building. Mr. Carson looked poised as he smiled at me and turned to open the car door. The plush black leather interior did look immensely inviting. But this was something else entirely. When I opened my mouth to speak no words came out at all. And I just stood there like an idiot.

"Mr. Middleton, we must be going now."

"Carson," I said."I didn't expect to see you here."

"His Royal Highness wanted me to escort you to the airport personally."

I stepped forward slightly, standing next to the car as I looked Carson in the eye. "And they say chivalry isn't dead."

An hour later, we arrived at O'hare airport. But instead of dropping me off at the departure lane, Carson drove the car around until we reached the edge of the tarmac. A couple of hangar bay's on my left suggested that this is where I would be leaving from. Yet nothing could prepare me for what happened next. The car came to a stop as Carson got out and opened the door for me as I saw a private jet standing nearby. I followed him as I marveled at the sleek modern jet idling before me with its crisp white paint job and the royal family crest etched along the side.

I boarded the jet feeling anxious and nervous because I'd never been on a private jet before, but Carson assured me that this was the quickest way to travel. A female flight attendant kindly took my carry-on bag as I took a seat in the chair and fastened my seat belt in preparation for the takeoff. Carson sat across from me holding a gift box in hands as he passed it to me. The box was fairly big, it's color black with a beautiful ribbon and bow. I pulled at the corner of the bow as it came undone fairly easily.

I opened the lid and inside were several items that I did not expect. The first was an HP Spectre laptop with a leather sleeve case. Second, was an iPhone XS Max in gold. Third, was a key of unknown origin so I kept it in the box for safe keeping. And last but not least, was a key fob made by Range Rover. A car? I thought to myself as I placed it in my pocket and closed the lid before placing the gift box in the empty seat beside me. Such extreme gifts for someone like me, but why?

"So do you like your gifts?" Carson asked, reading my mind.

"They're beautiful," I admitted. "But it's so extravagant. I don't think I can accept these."
