After lunch, we headed to English. Carly, Sophia and Joseph were all in the top set with me, so they showed me the way to our classroom, which was at the other side of the field outside. Without them it probably would have taken me a while to find it. When we got there, they promised that we could all sit together.

"So whats the teacher like?" I asked as we headed across the field. They all gave each other looks, raising their eyebrows at each other.

"He's um...well. You'll find out for yourself." We got there, and waited outside until a man walked out, with the curliest hair I have ever seen in my life.

"Come in students, come in. Stand around the edge of the classroom, I'll be assigning your seats."

We all walked in to the classroom, and did as he said. I ended up sat next to a girl called Lilly.

"Hey! You're new here aren't you?" She was very pretty with long blonde hair and sparkling green eyes.

"Yeah I am, I moved here a few weeks ago from a small town a couple of hours away."

"That's cool. Do you like it here so far?"

"I think so. I mean, it's a lot different to my last school, which is a very good thing!" She giggled, and then the teacher hushed us.

"So class, this year is going to be tough. It's your last year of school, and you have a lot of work to do before you leave. You will need to work for your grades, you do not just get them handed to you! Now, who in here loves English?" I put my hand up, along with a few, but not many, others.

"Okay, this will be easy for those few of you. And I see that we have a new student, what is your name?"

"Melissa Hazelwood, sir."

"Okay, Melissa, quote Shakespeare for me."

"Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more; it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing." He applauded what I said, and I turned to Lilly and her mouth was open. I turned around, and most of the other students in the class had similar expressions.

"How did you do that? Are you human?" I shrugged, smiling.

"Can anyone else quote Shakespeare for me?" Everyone looked back at him with a blank expression.

"Well it seems Ms Hazelwood is the only one here with a working brain. You all need to reread Macbeth, and Romeo and Juliet, and learn some quotes. It will be in your exam! You all need to start taking this more seriously. Now, with the person sitting next to you brainstorm everything you remember from Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet."

After we discussed, Lilly turned to me.

"So, don't you miss your friends back home?"

"I guess so," I considered lying, making out to be popular, but what was even the point, "I didn't have many friends though, only a few." She nodded.

"I think it's better to have a few real friends, than a lot of fake ones. I mean, most of the popular people here are just bitches, if I'm honest. A few of them are okay, but that's the truth. It's better to have real friends." I smiled, nodding. I hoped I really did have real friends.

"So..aren't you friends with Joseph?"

"Well, I only met him today, as well as the others, but I've hung out with them today, yeah. Why?" I noticed that she blushed.

"Well, I think he's really cute. Do you think you could ask him about me, please?" I nodded, giggling.

"Sure thing. As long as you don't plan on turning into Michael and Sophia! I like having lunch with him." We both laughed, and I could see us becoming friends.
