The dark and gloomy sky dropped cold tears from its clouds. The wind howled as loud as it could. I wrapped myself in a thin medium blanket, shielding myself from the dull and twisted outside. Roaring noises echoed upstairs, banging on my door unable to come in. I reposition myself to block out the screaming of my mother and father, my knees dig further into my ribs- it hurt- but I didn't care.I could barely breathe in the hot air clouding around my head. I remove the blanket and let my eyes scan the room. Occasional light enters for a short second and disappeared again. I wish I could have a safe place to visit, even if its for just a bit. I would do anything to escape this prison.
I down my head back into the blanket bringing my body closer to the wall behind me. I feel the warmth of my body traveling through itself.I close my eyes and imagine a place I know I will never be.
Sun peeking through the green curtains, my eyes opening and adjusting to the bright rays. Waking up peacefully and quietly. Cheerfulness expressing itself in the room. The air clean, clear of cigarette smoke.
Footsteps lightly landing on the floor making its way down the stairs. Warm and comforting smell of breakfast made by your parents teases your nose. Pancakes, bacon, and eggs with a side of syrup placed in front of you. Looking at your brother chow down on the delicious morning meal. Having a wonderful conversation with all your family members in one place.A perfect Saturday morning.
Too bad that day will never come.
