Chapter 1
Have you ever wondered what it's like to have everything in your life taken away from you?
To wake up one day and find you have nothing. Just pain and sadness, lingering by you, never letting go.
My life was as normal as you could get. A loving family, friends, a good education. Then one day my dad started to change, he got a new job supplying a prison on an unknown island. Sometimes he'd have to go and actually visit the place. Each time he would come home looking like a ghost. my mum would always ask what was wrong, but he would brush it off and say that everything was fine. Me and my brother didn't pay much attention to it, we were busy with school work and friends. We were so happy......
It was late and mum had sent us to bed, a little while after, dad came in from work. Usually, mum would ask him how his day was or tell him about the things he had missed while he was away. However this time their cheery conversations was replaced with an eerie silence...
After what seemed like forever waiting in our beds listening out for someone to say something, dad finally blurted it all out. " it's awful! I can't stand it! The screams I hear from that prison! The blood stained walls and torture equipment! I can't take it! My job is to supply the prison with food and other things but I want more than that, I want to help the people living in that place! They're in that prison for a reason but they don't deserve..." his voice got weaker and trailed off. "Alan, you should have told me... This new job.. i-it's making you depressed, please, I know your getting a good salary from it..but it's not worth it." my mum always knew what to say. I heard my dad walk over to the stairs and stop. " no. I need to help these people Jen. My colleagues agree with me, we'll give them more food and medicine in secret, it'll be good you know?"
That's all I remember of that night, I must of fallen to sleep.
The next morning my dad actually looked happy to go to work, exited even. We all gave him a nick name of robin hood, and it all seemed okay, until the day came that changed my life forever.
Me and Benny were playing chess, as we usually do, when all of a sudden I thought I heard a gunshot. Benny looked up at me, "Did'ya hear that Tulisa?" before I had time to answer, three armed, dark clothed men broke down the door.
