(04) Golden Light
I breathed in, and breathed out slowly. I concentrated as I sat comfortably on my bed. It was now after dinner and I knew that Grandmother was asleep and Tet-chun was sitting up reading a book. With homework finished and time to spare before it got too late, I decided to check up on the two I left in charge. I had left them in charge solely because lately I had been sensing something growing within the hidden world. I wasn't certain on what it was, but it gave me a bad feeling so I didn't want to leave it alone until I felt that it was safe.
Even before I spent so long in the hidden world, we didn't have to have someone technically inside the fantasy realm to watch over it. Tet-chun and I would be able to go there freely as soon as we wanted to, since our connection with the hidden world was so strong. Like an alarm, we would be able to sense when something went wrong. But it was better safe than sorry. There was still a lot we didn't understand about the hidden world... If Earth was a mystery, than the Hidden World was an enigma.
I felt the pressure of gravity decrease around my body as I began to feel lighter, both in body and in spirit. I saw the plain walls of my bedroom contort and grow fuzzy as something brighter took its place. As they shifted out of view, I became aware that I was no longer on my soft bed, but on hard ground. I was no longer in the living realm, but in the fantasy realm. Around me was a crystallized plain that resembled a snowy plain at dark. Above it was what resembled a sky of pale blue with flecks of darker colors melting into it, like an artists' canvas.
I stood up then, feeling exhilarated at just being here after a short absence. I had so much bottled up energy that I smiled and started running around the smooth exterior.
Remember why you're here. I stopped at that thought and focused. The thing about the fantasy realm is that anything alive was considered an abnormality. It was easy to find heartbeats in this place.
I smiled once more when I got a lock-on on the two I was searching for. I morphed closer to them using my thoughts as a gateway.
They both turned their heads to me when I arrived. They were standing in what we liked to call a fantasy meadow. It was luscious in greenery and imaginative flowers, and the skies above were a royal blue with a spot of light that acted as a sun to give a pleasant vibe. This was the place we always chose to relax in, as it was the most peaceful of the hidden world. Small fairies danced around the meadow, the product of children's imaginations.
"Suko-chan!" A normally shy voice spoke louder and happily as bright brown eyes met mine. Chaniro Nagashi was my other self-appointed Spector to help keep track of this place. True to her last name (it meaning brown), she had long and slightly curly brown hair with lighter brown eyes. She was the same height as me, and always seemed to wear a scarf (even here in the hidden world). She liked to collect them and match them with her outfits. So the white and red striped one matched her combat-like uniform she wore.
