Undertale is an RPG game that came out on September 15, 2015. It was fabricated by Toby Fox. In Undertale, a long time ago, monsters and humans used to live together amicably. However, they engaged in warfare, and the monsters lost, seven human mages sealing them underground. In 201X, the first human, or Chara, fell down. They were found by Asriel, who was the prince of the Underground, son of Asgore, the king, and Toriel, the queen. They lived together as adopted siblings until one day, Chara grew fatally ill. Their dying wish was to visit the Surface once last time. When they died, their soul was absorbed by Asriel, and together they became a monstrosity who walked above to the Surface. Asriel, or rather Chara with control over Asriel's body, laid Chara's body down in a bed of golden flowers. The humans of the village, terrified, assaulted Asriel. Asriel had the power to pulverize them all, but he just smiled and limped back down into the Underground. At New Home, in the castle, he collapsed, and his body turned into dust, his weak monster soul splintering. The dust spread across the floor, later to grow into a bed of golden flowers, once of which was destined to become Flowey.
A century or so later, Frisk, another genderless human with similar fashion choices, falls into the Underground via Mt. Ebott. They first encounter Flowey, a talking, genial flower, who turns out to be soulless and attempts to kill them. Toriel, caretaker of the Ruins, saves them and leads them through a tutorial of how the game is placed. Frisk goes on to exit the Ruins into Snowdin, where they meet Sans, a pun-loving, peanut-headed skeleton, and Papyrus, his brother, who is obsessed with capturing a human. Frisk encounters other monsters and moves on to Waterfall, where the boss monster is Undyne, a "fish lady". They advance to Hotland, where they chance upon Alphys in her lab and Mettaton, then Muffet. They encounter other monsters as they make their way through Hotland and go into the Core, where, after defeating Mettaton, they come across a long elevator. The elevator leads them to Asgore's castle in New Home, and they fight him and Flowey, and Sans if they choose the Genocide Route.
Overall, Frisk's nature is predominantly extroverted and benevolent, and they can make friends and spare everyone in the True Pacifist Route. If this route is achieved, they encounter the True Laboratory at the end, where they examine experiments highlighting determination. In the Neutral Route, they kill some monsters, but not all. And then there's the other extreme—the Genocide Route. This happens when Frisk goes out of their way to kill everyone. With each kill, Chara, whose soul has survived all these years, grows more in control of Frisk's body, until finally, they can act completely on their own, regardless of Frisk's—or sometimes even the player's—control. At the end of this, Frisk encounters Chara, who looks much like them except for their pale skin, fashion choices, and creepy eyes. Chara speaks very stiffly and bluntly with them, eventually getting to the part where they must eradicate their world. Despite Frisk's choice, they erase the world, and Frisk is forced to sell them their soul before starting another route.
In this alternate universe, Chara, after a Genocide Route, gets hold of another body and thus ends up killing everyone who remains. This story takes place in all regions of the Underground.
