As we boarded the new ship, my father pulled me aside to make sure I fully understood the importance of my task. "Adaline, now I know that I have always treated you as apart of my crew, but I want you to know that I am giving you this mission because I believe you to possess the potential to surpass any obstacle". His eyes suddenly darkened as he continued, "But, remember that if you fail there will be no place for you here, I'll be sure of it". The threat hung in the air along with the unsaid resentment I've held against him for all of my 18 years. As much as he believed himself to be a man of honor, never in his life has he done something to solely benefit another. And I knew that this threat was sincere, for I've seen it happen to my mother. A beautiful woman who outgrew her usefulness on this vassal, only to be merely thrown away as if she was a worn out pair of boots. He only really acknowledged me as his daughter when I began to harness my skills. So one may wonder why I stayed and played the part of the daughter devoted to gaining her fathers favor. Well, I had plans to rule the sea so I needed connections, and there's no better place to start than the top... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Henry broke me out of my daze to hopefully formulate some semblance of a plan, "So, if I am correct, you have no idea how to go about this" he stared at me while flashing a dashing smirk. He knew that he was attractive, with his piercing brown eyes and dark brown hair, which is what made his expression all the more condescending. "Henry, it seems to me as if you've already forgotten who your speaking to...". I held his gaze while flashing a smile of my own, "I know exactly how we are going to accomplish enlisting the help of the prince... and it involves some masquerading". I turn to my new crew, "Everyone I know that we have just met but let me set some ground rules. I demand your respect on this ship, and I will not tolerate insolence. You will refer to me as Captain Adaline. Now, man your positions... we are setting course for Sedronia".
