The day Jim saw Sebastian Moran, he was helping put up the sails. It was their second and last day in the docks and his head nearly span as he layed his eyes upon him. Seb was a tall man, toned and tanned with a pale mop of blonde hair on his head and a dirty bandanna framing it.
He remembered where he was and closed his mouth, trying desperately to return his attention to the sails and not the extravagant and elegant pools of blue that flourished in his eyes.
Jim was used to averting his eyes from men to hide who he was, He'd once made the mistake of telling his father that he was gay, which caused the last two years with him to be full of abuse, merciless beatings and hell. Jim assumed many of the men aboard the ship would have similar views, but now the ship was all he had.
Once the sails were up and the ship was moving, Jim sauntered over, stealing a leather hat from a passing crew member and dropping it onto his head before leaning on the side of the ship next to blonde man. Before Jim had done this, the man was counting food supplies to go to the kitchen, but now his attention was fixed on him.
"Hello there, Sailor. " Jim said in the lowest voice he could muster without sounding ridiculous- he hoped. The man smirked, his blue eyes trailing up Jim's body to his face.
"Hello." He stood to his full height, taller than Jim by nearly a foot. "And you are?"
His voice was low, his words well spoken. Smirking, Jim tipped the hat upwards,
"London, eh?"
Raising an eyebrow, the larger man looked down at Jim.
"Irish, eh? Pretty far from home, aren't you?"
Jim smirked, "I could say the same to you." He held out his hand, "Jim Moriarty, pleasure. "
Taking his hand, the blonde nodded to him, "Seb Moran. You're new here, I'm guessing."
Jim nodded, "How could you tell?"
Seb looked him up and down, "You're clean."
Jim smirked, "Well I do try." .
At this Seb laughed, and Jim's stomach flipped. He turned his eyes to the ship's wet deck, hiding the up-turned corners of his mouth. Seb looked curiously at the man before him; he was a bit short, with dark hair and eyes that held something he couldn't quite put his finger on.
"So what's your place here, brown eyes?" Seb uttered, instantly regretting the decision to comment on his eyes. But to his suprise, instead of a dirty look, walking away or even a smack, Jim smiled.
"I'm a musician." He piped, picking up a cleaning brush lying on the deck and playing it like a Ukulele. "I'm an excellent Ukulelist."
"No you're not, come on what are you." Seb said, crossing his arms and raising his eyebrows.
" Okay, I'm an able bodied sailor, you?"
Seb nodded, "Me too. " He lifted himself to sit on the side of the ship and looked down at the water, " 'Been wanting this my entire life."
Jim grinned and looked to the waves, "As did I, I used to sit right there on the docks," He said, pointing to a spot at the end of a wooden pier that was fading into the distance, " 'Used to dream about comandeering one of them, taking it out to sea and never coming back. "
Seb smirked, " Comandeering? Do we have an educated one here?"
Jim shrugged, " I've never been to school, I stole books from the shop by my home, taught myself how to read and write. So not really."
"I can't read." Muttered Seb, looking down at his dirtied nails. Jim furrowed his eyebrows, nodding.
"So, what else brings you to the sea?" Jim asked, looking over to him quizzically. "Any angry families? No money? A wife you wished you didn't have?"
Seb smirked and shook his head, "A wife? God no." He shook his head, "No money. You?"
"Wanted for murder." He smirked,
Seb burst out laughing, "What? Listen, brown eyes, I didn't believe the Ukulele, I'm not-"
Jim handed him a poster from, brandishing his name and a sketch of him. WANTED FOR MURDER- REWARD, was written in large letters across the bottom. Jim winked at Seb, who's shocked expression had not yet faded. He looked up to Jim, who put a finger across his lips and put the poster back in his pocket,
"Shh, don't want anyone here giving me in for the reward now, do we?"
Seb smiled his eyes glinting, "Who did you kill?"
Smirking, Jim tapped his nose. "I'll leave it to your imagination. See you again, Sailor."
He said, before walking back over to the sails to finish his work, leaving behind a curious and smirking Seb.
