Ours

The sunlight shines in through our open curtains and Elide stirs beside me. Her long, wavy black hair falling around her. Lord Lorcan Lochan; Fenrys and Aelin laughed for a solid hour because of it, Whitethorn only smirked... I suppose he isn't Whitethorn anymore. Shaking my head, I think, damned be the name, damned be my own immortality because I will get to live with Elide forever anyways. Opening my eyes I take in the room again, the hint of a smile tearing it's way out of me. Sensing her eyes on me, I turn my attention to her and grin, "Did you sleep well, Lady of Perranth?"

Her voice takes on a sarcastic hint as she says, "Oh yes I did. And you Lord Lorcan Lochan?" Her mouth quirks in a smile I know she wants to unleash and as if remember something, she rushes out of bed. Pulling on a robe and telling me to put on pants.

After I do what she asks, she takes my hand and leads me to the balcony, in time to see the sunrise. She smiles, beautiful and unrestrained as she says, "It's beautiful isn't it?"

My voice is nothing more than a low rumble as I whisper in her ear, "Not as beautiful as you, Elide."

Her cheeks turn pink and tears line her eyes as she looks out at her home. Our home. "I wish..." She bites her lip, "I wish I could have seen it with them. One last time." I know in an instant who she is speaking of; her parents.

Wrapping one arm around her, I say, "They know Elide, they're proud of you." She leans her head against my chest and I find myself saying, "Hell, Perranth loves you, each and every one of your people."

She whispers, still smiling, "Ours Lorcan, they're our people." Reaching up she brushes her lips against my jaw and despite myself a low growl escapes. She drags her other finger softly against my cheekbone, and back along the point of my Fae ears. Leaning down, I kiss her neck and a soft moan comes out of her--

Someone knocks. She instantly heads to the door and I brace her ankle as she walks towards it, she smiles back at me. That damned smile that has one coming out of me. Fenrys was convinced I had caught a disease from my continuous smiling the whole evening of our wedding, and Rowan just surveyed me with his knowing eyes. I shoved the pain down that Gavriel, my century-long friend, my brother, couldn't have been there.

Elide opens the door, the messenger giving her a letter. When she is gone, Elide turns around, reading the letter, smiling as she went through it fluently, then reading it to me;

"Well, it's your first ball at Perranth, why wouldn't we come? Rowan and I will be there." She paused, reading the second half, "P.S, I think Fenrys is coming too."

Elide grinned, saying, "Well, it is going to be a party."

Sighing to the sky I mutter, "Gods help us."
