It's been a few weeks since my boyfriend's death. I can't seem to get the thought off my head that i could have done something to help it. It was a murder. Him and I were staying in Paris over the summer for a fun vacation. Or at least, we thought. I was trying to get away from my parents. They hated him. I have no clue why. He was so perfect. He had the perfect smile, the perfect family, the perfect grades, and the perfect life altogether. I loved him, so much. I don't know what I would do if I could spend one more minute with him. He wanted to go somewhere perfect, like, Paris. So we did. We booked two first class tickets. It was amazing! It smelled like fresh cooked food from the very back seats. We watched movies on the way to Paris , like 101 Dalmatians, Toy Story, and all the Disney classics pretty much. It was a pretty long flight there. But it was worth every minute with him. So, when we finally got off the plane, we could see the eiffel tower from the airport, with lights everywhere, and a fresh pastry smell coming from the Starbucks in the airport. Of course, Luke, he got me my favorite, a Vanilla Bean frappe and he got him an iced coffee to keep him awake because it was so early in the morning. After leaving the airport, we rented a car. We couldn't decide. We finally chose a car but couldn't pronounce the car's name. We laughed and laughed trying to pronounce the name, but never could! It was something like, Peugot or something. Still to this day I can't pronounce the name! After we had a good laugh, we drove the car to the hotel and unpacked. We had felt weird ever since we walked through the door. We felt like someone was watching us.We didn't say anything until we got in our hotel room. "Jess, I don't like the feeling of this place." "Me either. Let's get out of here for a while." So we set out cautiously, looking for something to do. As we were pulling out of the hotel parking lot, I saw something out of the corner of my eye. "Oh my god Luke!" I screamed. " Jess, what's wrong?" "I just saw something!" I said, terrified to even speak. "What did it look like? Where did you see it?" He said. I could tell he was about to sprint out of the car. "I don't know what it looked like. I just saw something huge out of the corner of my eye coming out of the bushes beside the car. I don't know where it went." " Are you good now, Jess? Are you sure you weren't seeing things?" "I don't know. I'm fine now. I guess I just freaked myself out."I said, having this unsettling feeling in my stomach. " Do you still want to go out? We can just go back to the hotel room and get some sleep before we head out. The lack of sleep may have made you start seeing things." he said making it obvious he thought i was going crazy. "Yeah, I guess." We pulled back into the parking lot, and Luke had his arm around me trying to comfort me, and it was working. The thing about Luke was, that he always knew how to comfort me. No matter what kind of situation, he just knew how. As we approached the door I saw something out of my eye again and I quickly turned my head to see if there was anything there. There wasn't. Maybe I was hallucinating or something. " Jess-" "You're right. I think I just need some sleep." He opened the front door of the hotel for me, and I quickly walked in as he followed behind me. He didn't say anything to me on our way to our room. I got ready for bed,and I layed down." I love you, goodnight." Luke said to me. "I love you too. See you tomorrow." Luke must think I'm crazy right about now. I just layed there trapped in my own thoughts. What was that thing I kept seeing? Was it a threat? Was it even real? Does Luke even believe I saw anything at all? I had so many questions, and no answers. I finally fell asleep, at 2:00 in the morning. When I had finally woke up, Luke was in the shower. I went over to check my phone, and I realized I had left it in the car last night. Crap. I am NOT going out there alone. I'll just get it when I go outside later. I go to check Luke's phone, and it is 1:00 pm. Dang, I slept for forever. Luke must have gotten really bored while I was asleep. Knowing him he probably sat outside on the balcony of the hotel on his phone. I'm telling you, he was glued to his phone! He was always on it, except for when he was with me. I was the only one that he would talk to for hours on end, without even looking at his phone. I hear the bathroom door open and he walked out in shorts and a t-shirt. " Good afternoon sleeping beauty. How did you sleep?" he said. He was in a good mood this afternoon. " I slept fairly well last night. Better than i expected at least." " I'm glad to hear that. I was worried last night." "I'm better now. I'm still a little skittish, but not as much as last night. I was terrified." "I'm just glad to hear that you're okay. You can take a shower, I'm all finished in there now." "Okay. do you know where we are going today? I need to know what to wear." "This is not what I'm wearing today, but I would suggest something like a dress or something because we're going on a horse-drawn carriage ride." " Luke! Are you for real? I've always wanted to do one of those!" " That's exactly why I got us a ride to pick us up at 2:00. You have an hour to get ready. That should be plenty of time." " Oh my gosh, Luke you are the best! See you after i get out of the shower!" I could tell Luke was proud of himself by the way he looked. He really was the best. I took a quick shower and dried my hair. I walked out of the bathroom and I saw him in a polo shirt and some khakis. "Wow, you really are going all out today aren't you?" I said, chuckling. " That's the plan. How do I look?" Luke said. "You look great. I love your dog long socks by the way." I said laughing. "I know right! They totally match the outfit!" He said jokingly. "Hey, can you help me pick out a dress for today?" "Sure. Did you bring my favorite one with the blue roses?" "Yes, but don't pick that one right off the bat, okay?" "I make no promises." he laughs. "Okay, so here's my red one, my purple one, and my blue one with the roses. Which one?" "Hmmm..... The one with the blue roses!" I gave him a look. " What, I said no promises! And besides, if you didn't want me to pick that one then why did you bring it?" I huffed, rolled my eyes, and laughed. I go put on my dress and some heels. "You ready?" Luke said. "I think so. Oh by the way, I left my phone out in the car last night. Can you come with me to get it?" I said hoping he would say yes. "Fine." We walk out the room and Luke closes the door behind him. We walk down the hall,go down the elevator, and I ask for a snack. "Did you not eat anything when you woke up this morning?" "No. There wasn't any snacks." " Yes there were. They were in my bag." He said clearly being annoyed. "I'm sorry. I didn't know. I can just go back to the room and get the snacks." I said, not wanting to go up there alone. I was hoping he would say he would get them for me, or we could go up there together. He paused for a little bit and then answered, "Fine." So I started off to the hotel room. I just wanted to go back to Luke and leave this hotel. I got in the elevator and I realized that I didn't even have my phone in my pocket. I started freaking myself out that if something happened to me, I couldn't get in touch with Luke. I walked out of the elevator, and looked out into the hallway. "Okay, I can do this." I said to myself. I sprinted so hard to our hotel room, that I was out of breath when I got there. I quickly got into the room and grabbed his whole bag. I ran to the elevator, and when I got to the Lobby, Luke was there waiting for me. "Why did you bring the whole bag?" He said, confused. "I just thought it would be easier to carry." I lied. The only reason I even brought the whole bag was because I was scared. I was just ready to get out of the room. "Okay. Let's go." The carriage was waiting for us outside the hotel. I couldn't believe it. This was actually happening. He helped me into the carriage and then he got in. I was so excited to see all of Paris! As we were passing the eiffel tower, he was pulling something out of his pocket. It was a shiny black box and he handed it to me. "What is this?" I said curiously. "Just open it and see." I opened it and it was a ring. "What?" "Jess, will you marry me?" We had been dating ever since high school. He was already graduated from college, while I was on my very last year. "Oh my gosh, Luke! Of course!" He took the ring out and he put it on my finger. We were now officially engaged. This was the happiest moment of my life.
