I Can't Lose You.

Chapter 2: Forever and Ever.

3rd Year.

Over the past 2 years, I haven't spoke to Leta or Newt at all. I would avoid them. Instead, I found comfort in taking care of Tommy and other animals, along with plants. I love them dearly. Ralph, a unicorn who's horn I fixed is best friends with Tommy. I had spoken to our Headmaster, asking if it was fine, but he had replied,"Of course, I know you well enough to know you can take good care of them."That had made me overjoyed. I thanked Mr.Fortescue multiple times, but then he said,"Although, you can only bring one of your beasts to class with you. You will have to hide them somewhere, so I will be giving you this."He had told me, and set down a necklace with a pendant and a schoolbag."If you tap the pendant in a certain rhythm you set up, you will be able to teleport to a land with your beasts inside of your bag. "He said, then handed them to me."W-Why would you give m-me this...?"I stuttered."What, can I not give my niece something nice?Oh--Laurie, the schoolbag will be locked with a password. To unlock your bag, you must say Withering Rose, alright?Laurie?"He looked over to me, seeing as I didn't respond."I-I-I-I-I'm your n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-niece?"I say, stuttering a lot.He nods, and I become speechless."I might as well be called Uncle Dexter now, haha."He chuckles. I nod, and thank him multiple times before he tells me to go back to my common room.I nod again, and leave to my common room, where I wobble/run into the Hufflepuff common room, and into the bedroom.

 I got every one of my beasts into my bag, and smile while putting on the necklace. I tap the pendant 5 times then do a Z and a backwards one on it. It automatically makes me turn to dust, and I end up in a land I had never seen before. I gasp in awe, and I see Tommy and rush over to him. "I-Isn't this s-so cool?!"I gasp. Tommy nods, and then all of a sudden, I hear a bell from outside."W-Withering Rose."I say quickly, and climb out of the bag, and next thing I did, was run out with the bag after locking it. I ran/wobbled to Herbology and I saw my best friend, Evelyn O'Malley. Evelyn is in Gryffindor, and after that...event, we had become best friends. I felt a stare at the back of my head, but I ignored it, thinking it was Tommy or Ralph. I wrote to Evelyn shakily so no one heard whatever I was saying, and then she gasped quietly."Is this true?"She asked me, and I nodded."I gotta tell Bucky when I get back."She told me quietly. Bucky is her brown/black dog, so I'm fine with it. I nod, knowing her well, and then the lesson started. 

Herbert Beery, our professor asked us what to feed a Venomous Tentacula, and I put my hand up immediately, and he said,"Well, Ms. Oliver, what do you feed one?" to which I replied without stuttering somehow,"Mr.Beery, to feed a Venomous Tentacula, you must give it Chizpurfles." and Evelyn looked shocked. I place my hand in my lap quietly, and I heard Mr. Beery say quietly,"Correct." To be honest, I own a Venomous Tentacula, so I should know what to feed it, correct?Correct. So, I looked back because I was getting annoyed with the staring, and to my surprise, it was Newt. Newt noticed I was looking at him, and my brows then furrowed at the sight of him, and I turned my head. I remembered that event again, and felt a hand on my shoulder, and yeah, I still can't get over that day. 

I squeezed my eyes and I tapped my pendant in the rhythm I made, and so I was gone into the land again. I could hear gasps outside. The air in the bag felt tight, and when I opened my eyes, everything had a blue tint to it. I looked for everyone of my beasts everywhere, but I ended up seeing a small house in my now blurry vision. I went in, and my beasts were inside. Tommy saw me and quickly rushed over to me, and I felt a hand on my shoulder, and I looked back, and saw a ghost-like Leta.I held onto Tommy, and soon I felt as if I couldn't breathe. I decided to close my eyes, and so I fell onto Tommy, falling asleep. I could hear multiple squacks and I felt as if I just got out of water.

I woke up to see my bag beside me, along with a really worried Evelyn and Nurse holding back a slightly angry Newt. "Leave her alone, Newt."I heard Evelyn say. I was starting to get tired again, but soon I heard someone squacking beside me. I saw Tommy there, looking sad."Hey Hey, T-Tommy, M-Mum's ok, Mum's a-alright. No need to be s-sad, M-Mum's awake...A-A-Although, I'm getting.."I yawned," T-Tired..."I looked over to Tommy again, and I hugged him. "She's awake you moron!"I heard from Evelyn.I looked over to them, and shakily waved. Newt rushed over to me, and he took my hands."By Merlin's beard Laurie, I th-thought you died in the middle of class!" He had told me. His voice was more mature and he didn't stutter like he used to.I took my hands away from his."Laurel. Newton, Do not ever call me Laurie." I told him coldly.His eyes widened and his brows furrowed."But that's what strangers call you, d-don't they?"He asked shakily."I know that, Scamander."I told him."But at least let me ask you Lauri-Laurel...Why didn't you wait when I told you to..?"He asked me, voice breaking on my name." You were laughing, and I-I didn't w-want to embarrass myself more....But why do I care..Leave, alright?I want to be alone with my actual friends." I said, furrowing my brows and putting emphasis on actual.He saddly nodded, and left with his head down, blinking back tears, not wanting me to see them. He's guilt tripping me now, isn't he?I just then closed my eyes again, and Tommy panicked."M-Mum's tired, T-Tommy. Goodnight, e-everyone..."I said to Tommy and Evelyn. I fell asleep.

The next day, I blinked my eyes open. It was the dead of night, and I got up shakily.I walked out of the Nurse's office, and wobbled down the halls. I suddenly felt pushed by someone near the paintings.I landed on the ground with a loud 'oof' and then I heard laughter. The same, damn laughter I heard 3 years ago.It was Leta."What, does wobbling not pull you down?Well, I'll pick you up!"She giggled, then pulled out her want, and said,"Wingardium Leviosa."I suddenly felt myself being lifted, then thrown around the floor. I heard laughter from Leta again, and I just closed my eyes while crying."Can't even help herself, so useless."She said to me."Worthless. I wonder why Newt even liked you."I opened my eyes after that.She saw me and said,"Oh, did you not know?Me and Newt are together now. After you ignored him for days and days, and years, he cried because 'Laurie d-doesn't love m-m-m-me, sh-sh-she probably never d-d-d-did'" She laughed, mocking Newt. My eyes widened, and I looked towards her, and only could only smile out a small chuckle after what I saw."What are you smiling about?"She asked."Y-You should p-put me d-down, because T-Tommy doesn't l-like when M-Mum is b-b-b-being thrown..."I told her, and she looked back. She dropped her wand because she saw Tommy lurking over her, eyes angry.I dropped with the wand, and felt something fuzzy on my hands. I recognise that texture from anywhere. Ralph. A unicorn who's hair Leta tried to cut.I gripped onto Ralph and so Tommy was beside me, as they took me to a bathroom as they know I was going to get sick.But I'm not going to put that in detail, so let's skip that. Leta ran away from the three of us, and next thing that happened was that I was in the bed again. In the Nurse's office with Evelyn."By Merlin's beard, Laurie, what happened to you?"She said as she gave me a mirror. I never actually saw myself in a mirror before, properly anyways. All I could say was,"O-Oh I s-sure look horrible...Is this what I usually look like?" My hair was tangled, my cheeks which once was speckled with star-like freckles (as in the size) was now covered fully in purple bruises from hitting the ground. My eyes were puffy and red from all the crying I did as well.I put a hand up to my cheek."No, you looked way better before."Evelyn said. I nodded and chuckled.

The next time I woke up, I had untangled my hair, and made sure to look okay. The nurse's spells work magnificent. Wish I had the ability to use them when I first had a Swooping Evil encounter. It was morning, so I went down to the dining hall with my bag. There was silence, and the Slytherins glared at me as I went to sit down at the Hufflepuff table."I-I-I might join Quidditch, seems fun." I said to the table. Chris Pallas, a boy on my table said,"First of all, you need to get a broom to even try out."I nodded."I-I-I have o-one. When can I try out?"I asked."Try outs is after school today, but usual training is on Saturdays."He replied.I nodded again.Long story short, I got in, and I became the new Seeker, although I got a few bruises from that. Evelyn and the beasts were terrified that I got hurt, but I let them know I was fine. After that, I went to my desk to write down in a journal what I found out about my beasts. Did I mention, after that day Newton asked me that question, I told Evelyn the password because I trust her enough to do so. Chris seemed really nice today, to be honest.
