I felt a sharp pain on my arm and as if I had just woken up, I shook my head out of the small daze I had been in and I saw that a football was at fault for my slightly throbbing arm.
"What the hell Jonah! What was that for?" I say grumbling while picking up the football and tossing it back to him.
"Beckett, as your twin brother, I reserve the right to hurt you for a very good reason! I believe that making you focus for these last 5 minutes before the opening season game starts is very important! It is not given to us to flipping look at the random new chick at our school!" He says while tossing the ball back at me while moving further back.
Coach had told us to work on our distance tosses in partners, and we'd step further and further away from one another.
I catch the ball, and move back myself before tossing the next ball.
I turn my gaze back at the girl who was still sitting on the ground, leaning against the popcorn vendor's cart.
Her face was hidden behind a book and her dark brown hair messily falling out of the bun she had placed it in. Her glasses were practically falling off her face, but I saw her push them back up to the ridge of her nose.
I turn my attention back to Jonah, and I catch the ball he sent back.
"Jonah, do you know her name?" I ask not quite yelling because we weren't that far away from one another yet, plus the girl was still not in hearing range.
I toss the ball back to him, and he takes a minute to think about it. But it was a minute too long.
Coach had blown his whistle, signalling the game to start. I guess I was too wrapped up in that girl, and the half-assed practice I did before the game, to notice the bleachers had been filled now. I take a quick glance back at the girl.
The spot where she had been sitting was now empty.
I sigh and take my helmet off, and run a hand through my hair. I heard some of the cheerleaders squeal, and for their sakes, I looked their way and flashed them a grin. I turned back around to walk to the bench area where Coach was waiting for all of us to huddle up, and heard them all gushing like annoying hot chicks.
"I think her names like Winnie or something along those lines..." Jonah says walking closer to me.
"Winnie? As in Winnie the Pooh? Seriously? Bro, that's a turn off." I say now thinking of Winnie the Pooh. I mean no offence to him or anything, but I do not want that to run in my head every time I look at her.
"I know right? She didn't even look like a freaking Winnie. More like a Sophie or some shit like that." He says looking up into the crowd on the bleachers and waving to Kendall, his girlfriend.
"Who you guys talking about?" Will says catching up to Jonah and I.
"The new chick. What's her name? It seems that Beckett here has a new flavour of the week." Jonah says waggling his eyebrows.
"Bonnie Heart. She's not the new chick apparently everyone just found out about her cause of her twin sister." Will says.
"Bonnie" I say letting her name roll off my tongue. It was perfect for her.
"She has a twin sister?! Beck! Bro! You could basically hit a jackpot! If it doesn't work out with Winnie or whatever, you can fall back on the sister!" Jonah says laughing.
"Her names Bonnie dip face." I say rolling my eyes at him.
"Ooh your right Jonah, someone's got a wittle crush." Will says pinching my cheeks and laughing along with Jonah. I shove Will, and he still continues laughing.
