So far the day had consisted of my brother and his friend Ron Weasley making a complete fool of themselves. They were late for Ms. McGonagall's class, resulting in her embarrassing them in front of the class. I think I will like her. Then in Professor Snape's class, Harry could not answer a question to save his life. I knew all of them! How could you come from the muggle world and not be completely fascinated by everything that our textbooks contained? It's like a fairytale!

He was also going on about being worried about someone named Hagrid. I haven't met him yet, but I have a sneaking suspicion about who that could be. Anyway, it had something to do with Gringotts, the bank that was run by a bunch of goblins. Creepy little creatures, I must say.

At the moment, that seemed pretty irrelevant. We were currently out in a field with broomsticks laying at our feet. "Come on now, hurry up. Have your hand over the broomstick and say "up"." Madam Hooch demanded.

I hesitantly held my hand over the broom and mumbled "up." The broom rolled around on the ground for a moment before shooting into my outstretched hand. A beaming smile stretched across my face, and I began to bounce on my toes in excitement. Draco Malfoy stood across from me, rolling his eyes and grumbling something under his breath. I raised an eyebrow at his childish behavior and smirked sadistically.

"Wow, good job Evie." Hermione said, her mouth fallen open. "I cant seem to do it." She grumbled, glaring down her nose at the broom she was standing over. Her bushy hair made it hard for me to see her face, but I imagined it was scrunched up in aggravation.

I giggled. "Will it to happen. You have to have confidence that you can do it for it to happen. Feel it." I instructed. She seemed to let the information sink in for a second before trying again one more time. This time the broom reluctantly reached her hand and allowed her to grab it. I beamed at her and patted her back lightly. "See, knew you could do it." I smiled.

"Now once you've gotten your broom, I want you to mount it and hold on tightly. You don't want to go sliding off the end." Madam Hooch instructed the class. "Now when I blow my whistle, I want you to kick off the ground hard and hover in the air."

I took a few deep breaths in attempt to calm the nerves that were trying to bubble in my stomach. Soon enough, the whistle blew and I was launching myself into the air. I hovered just above where Hermione was smiling. A small smile formed on my face as I watched the girl. I think we will be good friends. I hope so anyways.

"Now lean forward slightly and come back down to the ground on my whistle. One, two,.. Mr. Longbottom, Mr. Longbottom come back this instant!" She screamed.

However, her demands were useless. Neville had absolutely no control over his broom. He went soaring around in the air in all directions, seemingly having no ability to stop. Soon he had fallen off of his broom completely and was hooked on something that jutted out of Hogwarts. I gasped, watching carefully and wondering what Madam Hooch was going to do. When she did nothing, I sped over as quickly as my broom would allow and caught Neville on my broom. I let out a sigh of relief and carefully lowered us to the ground.

"Tha-Thank you. My name is Neville Longbottom." The chubby faced boy said, clutching his stomach where he had landed on my broom.

"No worries. I'm Evelyn. I've seen you around. Hope I didn't hurt you too bad." I winced, trying to look at his abdomen for any serious injuries.

"I'll take it from here, Ms. Potter." Madam Hooch said quickly, wrapping an arm around Neville and leading him away. "Everyone stay on the ground while I take Longbottom to the hospital wing. If I see one broom in the air, they will be expelled before they can say Quidditch!"   She said loudly without looking back at the class.
