Meeting His Parents

"Mitch, c'mon tell me where we're going!" Leah shouts playfully as her boyfriend drags her along by the hand.

"It's just above this hill! C'mon love!" He shouts back smiling running up the hill. Leah follows close behind getting to the top of the hill a few seconds after her boyfriend. She stares at a worn medium sized wooden house. The shutters are closed but there's smoke escaping from the chimney. A large red barn house stands looming in the background casting a shadow over the smaller house. There's a large field full of produce behind the worn wooden house.

"Welcome home," he says quietly smiling at the house. Leah stares at him happily.

"This is where you lived, before you went to the ScrapYard."

He nods his head taking her hand once more.

"C'mon!"

Leah giggles at his enthusiasm excited to see the house closer. They reach the house in minutes panting. Mitch suddenly seems nervous as he raises his fist to knock on the door. Leah gives him a reassuring smile to help calm his nerves. He takes a deep breath and knocks on the door. The couple stares expectantly at the door waiting. They hear a click as the door opens. An older woman stands in the doorway holding a baby. The older woman has dark brown curly hair and yellow eyes. She wears a brown dress with a white apron. It's covered in stains.

"What can I help you w-" the older woman starts. Her eyes widen as she looks up at the both of us.

"M-Mitch?" She asks teary eyed.

He nods.

"I'm home ma' "

She wraps him a hug sobbing as she places kisses all over his face.

"Come in! Both of you!" She says. Mitch takes my hand and leads me inside. His house is small but warm and cozy. The older woman leads us into the kitchen where everyone seems to be eating dinner. They all fall quiet as they see him.

"Selena!" He shouts running over to her and hugging her as tightly as he can.

"I'm so sorry," he says to her. Leah stands awkwardly off to the side not sure what to do. Mitch runs to his dad and hugs him just as tightly.

"I've missed you all, you have no idea." He says looking around at them all. He notices his girlfriend standing in the corner so awkwardly. She's usually all about meeting new people but this time she isn't. Mitch smiles at her and gently takes her hand.

"We have a lot of catching up to do, but before we do that, I'd like to introduce you to my girlfriend. Everyone this is Leah Burminghamn. "

"N-Nice to meet you," She stutters.

She never thought she would be this nervous when she met Mitch's family. She never really thought about what would happen or if they would like her and stuff.

"Don't be shy dear," smiles the older woman, "Have a seat! Can I get you anything?"

"No thanks," Leah smiles as Mitch leads her to the table.

"Now tell us Mitch! Tell us about what happened to you!" Serena demands glancing at Leah.

Mitch chuckles.

"Alright, alright! I'll tell you!"

The rest of the evening is filled with Mitch telling his story. He tells everything from the beginning, to where he met Yin, to the end. Everyone sits in silence listening to him as Leah smiles and rubs circles into his hand with her thumb.
