The Beginning

            What is it that makes you love someone? Is it how they look at you, how much money they spend on you, how they treat you? Or is it something different? When I first met him, I didn't know that the road ahead of me was going to be so long. A dark and lonely road that I would only share with him every once in a while. One that would led me onto the path that I am on currently. Out in the middle of nowhere...

Leaves crunching under my feet as I looked up at the trees. They hummed with a sense of pride knowing that the time of color was coming to an end for this season. The wind whipped at my face, nipping my nose, with the icy wind that sang words of Jack Frost. My clothes clung to me for dear life as if when they let go, they would be forever taken away from home. My boots slid across the cold, hard, ground like giant pieces of cement tied to my feet.

Out of the corner of my eye a small child presented himself to me. At the time I didn't know who he was or even possibly how much he would mean to me. Now, I know most peoples' thought would think that I'm an animal for even looking at this child out here in the cold, but that child led me out of the darkness. He walked up to me and held out his hand.

I looked at this child in disbelief. How could he be out in the cold and not hear the wind howling, demanding to blow this small child away? Was I the only one that couldn't dampen the noise enough to block it out of my mind all together or was I simply as insane as they told me that I was.

I took the small boy's hand and where he led me to, I didn't know would lead me to the rest of my life...
