CHAPTER 4: She Has No Choice!

ROMAN

LeRoy returned from the funeral today right as I returned from a council meeting. I saw him talking and laughing with some of the pack members when he stopped as soon as he noticed me walking down the hall towards them. I motioned with my head for him to come and meet me in the office to tell me everything. He then gets up and follows me inside the room. 

"Alpha." He says as he closes the door behind him and sits down in the chair across from his desk. 

"So? How is she?" I ask. 

"She's good." He says. 

"What else?" I ask. 

"She has declined your invite to her staying with us." He tells me. 

"Did you tell her she doesn't have a choice?!" 

"Yes and no." 

"What the hell does that mean?" I asked frustrated. 

"It means that she said no because there's things happening right now that she said the last thing she wants to do is to see you again. It'll be too hard for her." 

"I'm not the one that just up and left!" I snap. 

"Yeah well, according to her, she has every right to be upset with you." He says sounding judgmental in his tone. 

"Is that what she said?" I snap my head at him frustrated. 

"Yeah. And to be honest, until I hear from you what happened, I'm going to believe her because of many reasons with one of them being that she isn't a liar and also that especially back then, after your dad was going to shun you from the council and the family name if you stayed with her, you took your frustration with him out by becoming a player." 

"I know I did. But I did it a couple of times with that slut Charlene and regretted it ever since. I wanted to tell Penelope that day she ended up leaving that I fucked up and wanted to make everything better, maybe even runaway, but it was too late. She had left and I couldn't find her. Even when I went to her parents castle, they would tell me she wasn't there, though now I know differently." I say feeling guilty I didn't try harder. 

"Well, to be honest, despite what she told me, I think she still has feelings for you and never moved on from you." 

"Right, that's why she let some other asshole knock her up." I snapped at him. 

"She ain't like that and besides, it wasn't her fault the father wasn't there." He snaps at me. 

"Excuse me?" I asked him while clenching my fists as I tried holding in my anger still. 

"Nothing." He shakes his head as he stands up and starts walking towards the door. 

"We aren't finished here yet." I tell him. 

"Yes we are Alpha. I know what you're thinking of asking me to do and I won't kidnap her and her son." 

"How else will she get here?" I asked. 

"You go and get her Alpha. And when you meet her son, take a good look at him before you do or say anything to either one of them." He smirks before opening up the door and leaving. 

What the hell was that all supposed to mean? And why the hell would she refuse the protection? Sure we had a bad past but even she knows that we are the only ones who can protect her and her son from all of this. Which that's going to be hard for me because I was supposed to mark her. She was supposed to be MY mate and have MY kids. Now I'll have to deal with the pain that comes with being around her and then some other guys kid she had with. 

Several days pass by after LeRoy had returned from Penelope's parents' funeral and I've been working on Alpha duties and getting some things together but the door busted open and in ran one of my Omega's. 

"Alpha! Alpha!" He yells out. 

"What is it?" I asked a little frustrated that he was interrupting the meeting. 

"It's Lady Penelope, the one who lost her parents recently..." He starts. 

"What about her?" I demanded. 

"She has been hurt by a rogue." He says. 

It was right then and there that I dropped everything and with the snap of my fingers, we all quickly shifted and started sprinting as fast as we could towards her place while I had a couple of my Delta's drive to her place so that her and her son could return in a car. 

I hope that she's alright. Please Moon Goddess or whoever can help save her, save her.
